Story to share of a gift. Last Spring I started to have my niece work with me on social media tasks for clients. She was in college to become a sports medicine therapist. She fell in love with marketing and decided she wanted to change her major and focus. We kept talking and she is being brave and starting her own company! For Christmas I gave her a logo/branding. She's thrilled and contacting her city to get her business license, bank account and setting up her site hosting, heading to social media to update her accounts to have new company in there. She was inspired! She is taking charge and making it happen. I'm so proud of her.

Today I had a pet trainer her to see if we are a match. Our little dog barks a lot and thinks he's in charge. We will change it. Here's why I'm posting: She's a small business owner with this niche market. We heard about her through our vet her heard about her success from their patients. She followed up within hours via email and asked in the email if she could call me. She called at the exact time I requested. She began to get her foot in the door and schedule the "free" consult, because she has confidence in what she does, it was more for her benefit to see if she wanted to work with us. She was wise to not scold me, shame me and to tell me how cute and sweet and smart my dog is and all that I'm doing right. THEN she put our her hand and asked, "So, are we going to do this?"

So many times we meet with people, consult but forget the most important part - ASKING FOR THE ORDER. Most sales people - and we are ALL sales people - lose the deal because they forgot to ask for the order. Instead they thank people for their time, talk about follow up, getting back to them if they have any questions. ASK FOR THE ORDER FOLKS!

Here's my resolution: EVERY Saturday is Small Business Saturday. We started in October and seek out new businesses or ones that need a boost each week. Great way to get to know more local business owners. We have found some treasures. I'm grateful for my clients that allow me to work from home and bring them ideas they are willing to try. We had a great 2016 and 2017 is already on track to surpass by 15%!
