Have your AARP card handy when coming here. Not a very hip crowd. The food wasn't amazing. It was good, but not amazing. For the price point, I have had far better meals. The venison we had was good by itself, but the smokey flavor of the avacado puree was overpowering. The venison really should come on a bed of some delicious carb. Even a small amount of mashed potatoes would have tied all of the ingredients together. The crispy skin salmon by itself was fantastic, but again, the accompaniments didn't really work. The tang of the grapefruit and the tang of the yogurt sauce just was too much tang, and not a lot of other flavor variation. This was another dish that felt really incomplete. On the plus side we loved the choices available on the wine menu.

Wow. Fantastic meal. Service was timely and impeccable. The duck that I ate there was pretty much interplanetary. As in: out--of--this--world!! I mean, I had this delicious mustard sauce that had been frozen into a little creamy scoop of ice cream. What culinary genius came up with that!? We went the five of us. Mom in from out of town, me, fiance, and other family members. I am fresh off a five year stint in New Orleans and have eaten at most of the top-rated restaurants there. Oval Room competes and outcompetes the best restaurants in New Orleans. For me, the best thing a chef can do is to prepare food that I have no idea how it was made. Impressively, every morsel of my food at Oval Room was like that..Waiter was perfect. Bartender was friendly and cool. Hostess was a sweetheart.

For really special occasions, you can't do better than the Oval Room. It is classy, the food is delicious, and the service is impeccable. Every time that I've gone, the waiters are informative, friendly, but at the same time never intrusive or too in your face. They really know their food. The food is imaginative without going to extremes. It's a wonderful treat to dine here.

Food was alright and the service was very unfriendly. I never have had worse service. The one waiter was an elderly man who was very rude and probably was unhappy with his life, but the joy he must have felt being rude to me was probably the only thing he had going for him in his poor little life. He made me very uncomfortable in the restaurant due to this and it make my experience miserable. The fish I had was good though!

If you are looking for a place with "to die for cuisine" do not come here. Very much a appearance above flavor restaurant. I went here with a friend (about a year ago) and we were extremely disappointed, the food looked amazing but once we actually tasted it, it was bland and a some of the meat was a little rubbery (We did the tasting menu). The service was really good and the food was always hot and came out within a reasonable time but it simply was not good. The only thing I really liked was a prawn salad with avocado, but I'm an avocado freak- throw an avocado on anything and I'll love it:)

The food was AWESOME. Both my friend and I were very pleased. The wait staff was very odd - kind of reminded me of people who work in Tower of Terror at Disney - trying to be serious but not quite hitting the mark. My wine glass had a spiderweb across the top - weirdest thing EVER, but they replaced everything promptly and said it was from the cleaning rag? Okay - another weird thing. But overall the place was fine - the food was great. I would only go during restaurant week. If I were going to pay any more for a meal I would want to go somewhere fancier.
