My boyfriend and I recently went there for my birthday. The food was decent and the experience was an all around good experience. The bill was $50, which for two people is pretty reasonable. Unfortunately they switched our cards when we payed and charged us with a bill from a family of 6. We got charged with a $240 bill. They never fixed the problem and the bank eventually had to correct the problem for us. Not only that but the server (lady who also took our card) was blatantly rude the whole time. We won't be going back.

YUM YUM YUM FOOD!! SOOOO good and the staff and cook were very nice. But, I don't like how they charge you already for tips in large groups and its VERY expensive. But, overall good place to go out to eat for something nice. The food doesn't disappoint!

I will admit it is expensive, but worth every penny. kobe's is the best by far & I will make it my business to return. The chef was a blast and very entergetic which made my experience exciting. If you are thinking about fine Japanese cusine then i strongly recommend this place.

Didn't even get to eat. Let's start with the manager. I arrived with a 7:30 reservation to be told it will be a while. I asked ( nicely ) what "a while meant and was told a bit. No kidding... So I ask what's going on and I am told people are just not getting up. By the way, that does happen so I was understanding. After 20 minutes I pressed for a ballpark time and the Donkey ( manager will be called Donkey for the rest of the post informed me it's a minimum of 45 minutes and likely longer. That's not a " people aren't getting up problem", Its a " I'm a Donkey and I seated people without reservations before you. So now, I confront the Donkey and he admits to this. How do you treat your customers like this. Unacceptable . By the way, he was also rude because he didn't like the questioning and he should be fired. Terrible mannager. I will never go back.

We arrived at 8:00pm, the same time as our reservation, which we made a week in advance. They told us it would be a couple minutes wait, which was no big deal. We ordered a drink at the bar in the waiting room and sat down. 30 minutes later, they call the name we had our reservation was under, so we stood up thinking it was time to be seated. We were then RUDELY told it wasn't for us, it was for another party with the same name. A party that we saw come in after us. In fact, that was not the first group of people that came in after us that were seated before us. By 8:50 we were still not seated, so I went to ask what the issue was, only to see they had moved us to a 9:00pm slot on their schedule and hadn't even marked us off that we were there! The manager offered to buy us a drink for the wait, which MAYBE would have been okay if there was a table open, but we were still going to have to continue to wait. If you are going here, I suggest putting it under a unique name and not leaving the hostess stand, because the staff is incapable of maintaining a reservation book.

The true test of a more expensive restaurant is whether or not you would spend that much money to go back. In the case of Kobe's, the answer is a resounding yes. The Westport location is beautiful and scenic and the service is solid (and, depending on the cook, quite entertaining). And the food? Well, my wife and I get the Shogun for Two, which is a combination of filet mignon, lobster, and either scrimp or scallops in rice (fried rice if you want), and it is nothing short of spectacular. Be aware, at dinner you may spend anywhere from $50-100 for two people, but in this case it is well worth the cost.
