Hey G+. I know I'm guilty of ignoring you. To be fair, I was gone for a very long time. Also, I know I'm not the only one, since people seem to be leaving this place in droves. BUT! I need your help. Google suspended my YouTube account for reasons completely unknown. 3 years of really hard promoting work just... gone. I'm hoping to get it back, but in the meantime, I've made a new one, and it'd mean the world to me if you'd head on over and subscribe and help me to feel like my online life isn't totally in ruins. I realize that I'm not about to hit 1,000 subscribers and hundreds of thousands of views in a single day, but... ya know... any help would be appreciated.

I'm not really big into numbers or overly blatant self-promotion, but this whole thing has been pretty upsetting. So... yeah. Any help would be absolutely lovely. And if you have no interest in any of this, then I'm sincerely sorry for bothering you or wasting your time. Thank you for reading.
This is where I makes the musics and the videos.

For those who wanted pictures from the inside--some shots from my tour at NASA. My sister's husband works at Mission Control as part of the team that pilots the ISS. The end result was that I got to see the Space Shuttle simulator/training equipment literally days before it was all torn down and disseminated to various museums, I met an astronaut, I got to sit in the shuttle simulator and play with the 800 gajillion buttons, and I got to watch people fly the freaking International Space Station.

Speaking as a kid who went to Space Camp as a young'n, this was like some sort of crazy dream come true.

I feel like I've been horribly neglecting my Google Plus profile, but, in all honesty, I haven't quite figured out how to incorporate it into my whole 'Social Media Presence' thingamajig.

Like... do I cross-post between here and Facebook? Between here and Twittter? Between here and my blog? I pretty rarely post things to both Facebook and Twitter (unless it's a video or show announcement or similar), but I'm having trouble figuring out what niche Google+ fills.

So, dear Circles, what has your strategy been? Do you put stuff on here that you don't put on Facebook or Twitter? Or vice versa?

Haha, I thought your original post addressed the question, even if not directly. The fact that you suggested an extension for cross-posting implied that you think that doing so is appropriate.

I feel like I want to start making this a reoccurring segment on G+. I need something to set it apart from Facebook and Twitter, maybe my "hook" can be "Driving picture of the day".

This one is called "Casual Friday".
I'll name the previous one "Power Tie".

Does anyone know of an easy way to have tumblr posts automagically get posted to my G+ stream? My main blog is hosted on tumblr (although I see a lot of truth in +Ted Trembinski's view that G+ marks tumblr's descent into obsolescence)?

That said, this was my latest blog post. SomethingsomethingGrammarNerdTalk:

true. If I had a real demand for a customized space, I would stick with tumblr. It would also be cool if the content sharing worked both ways, like a "my tumblr" circle that adds the post to your tumblr stream.

I very much suck at G+, I fully admit that. I swear, one of these days, I'll figure out how to incorporate it into my regular social media routine.

For now, though, I realized that this is the only place where I haven't announced all the big stuff happening right now!

1) I'm going on tour, and you can check the dates and follow the exploits at http://xoeandmatttour.com
2) In anticipation of the tour, I'm having a big ol' music sale! Get both my EP and my full-length album, in both digital and physical versions, for only $5! Which includes shipping! Honestly, it's pretty much just selling them at cost--the point is that I want as many people to have the music in their hands before I hit the road as is humanly possible. So if you don't have a copy of one or both yet, hit up http://store.mattryd.com/ and go for it! Even if you have a copy of one of them, get both and give the duplicate away as a gift! Or keep the digital version and give BOTH of the physical versions away as gifts! The possibilities are endless!

From what I saw yesterday, Southwest Airlines has crammed both their Texas gates and their Chicago gates with as many power outlets as possible. I thought that the USB sockets were a particularly nice touch. Seriously--well done, Southwest!

Reveling in the joy of having a front-facing camera on my phone. Apparently, this is what I look like when I drive. And I was able to do this while keeping my eyes on the road. Technology, man... it's some crazy stuff.

My friend Xoe Wise is heading out on tour, and is trying to raise support through Kickstarter! If you have a sec, head on over to her page, check out her music, and consider tossing a few dollars her way. She's one of the most talented people I know, and most definitely deserves your support.
Xoe Wise is going on tour!

Introduction

Matt Ryd is a singer/songwriter/all-around-geeky-nice-guy from Chicago, Illinois.  In just a short time on the Chicago music scene, he has already made quite a name for himself.  The song “Healed” from his debut EP was placed on episode 803 of the hit ABC show “Scrubs”.  ”Healed” also received radio attention, including multiple spins on the mass-market WXRT 93.1 in Chicago.

His full-length LP, “Looking For Home”, was released to a sold-out crowd at the nationally-known Schubas Tavern.  He has opened for such major acts as Jeff Tweedy, The Swell Season, Crystal Bowersox, and I Fight Dragons.

Reviewers have described him as “Jason Mraz meets The Rembrandts” and as “a more likable version of John Mayer”.  Audiences and reviewers agree that, above all else, Matt Ryd’s music is genuine and heartfelt, and that when the honest lyrics mix with the catchy melodies, it’s impossible not to sing along.
