Driverless shuttle service coming to U-M’s North Campus

Mcity will launch a driverless shuttle service on the University of Michigan’s North Campus beginning this fall.

The service will use two fully-automated, 15-passenger, all-electric shuttles manufactured by French firm NAVYA to transport students, faculty, and staff on a nonstop two-mile route between the Robert H. Lurie Engineering Center and the university’s North Campus Research Complex (NCRC) on Plymouth Road.

U.S. states could not set self-driving car rules under Republican plan

California and other states would be barred from setting their own rules governing design and testing of self-driving cars, while federal regulators would be blocked from demanding pre-market approval for autonomous vehicle technology, according to a U.S. House Republican proposal reviewed by Reuters on Thursday.

GM Produces First Round of Self-Driving Chevrolet Bolt EV Test Vehicles

General Motors announced that it completed production of 130 Chevrolet Bolt EV test vehicles equipped with its next generation of self-driving technology at its Orion Assembly Plant located in Orion Township, Michigan. The vehicles will join the more than 50 current-generation self-driving Bolt EVs already deployed in testing fleets in San Francisco; Scottsdale, Arizona; and metro Detroit.
