This image was taken at Pyramid Lake in Jasper National Park, CN on October 11, 2012.  Just after sunrise, the cloud formation was very interesting and the water was still like glass.  Shot with a Canon 1DX and a Canon EF 16-35mm f/ 2.8L ll USM at f/18.  Thankfully it was not too cold and still felt like Fall.

The San Francisco Bay Bridge has a new look to it. Inspired by the Bay Bridge’s 75th Anniversary, its 25,000 white LED lights are individually programmed by artist Leo Villareal to create a never-repeating, dazzling display across the Bay Bridge West Span through 2015. Unfortunately to capture it as a still, the shutter needed to be open for nearly a minute so what is really shown here is a timed exposure showing every light lit.  If you are near the San Francisco area, I highly recommend taking this sight in...

A US Air Force F-15 Strike Eagle producing a vapor cone also known as a "Shock Collar" This image was taken October 7, 2011 along the San Francisco Bay during the Blue Angels practice show for their annual Fleet Week appearance. These jets are moving so fast, you can only just hope to capture a good image.  What a treat when through my viewfinder, I saw this vapor cone.  Shot with a Canon 5D MKll with a Canon 70-200mm f2.8L IS coupled to a 1.4 teleconverter (for an effective 280mm).  ISO 640 at 1/1000 sec, f7.1.

This image of Lake Tahoe was taken on a late August afternoon adjacent to the Tahoe National Forest on the West Shore.  A summer storm was brewing and I loved seeing the lone classic wooden boat.

Shot with a 5D MKll and a 24-105mm f4L lens at 55m, ISO 400, 1/160 at f/18

Patricia Lake, Jasper National Park.

This image was taken last October 7th shorty before 9:30 A.M.  The nice thing about being so far North is that sunrise is later than where I live (San Francisco Bay Area) so one can actually get up at a later hour.  This was such a pristine spot and other than a few random photographers, we had the area to ourselves.  Soon after this shot was taken, a single fisherman in a small aluminum boat putted by.  I'll always wonder how he did...

Shot with a Canon 1-DX, a 24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens at 67mm, ISO 100 at f16.

Our last day in Banff National Park last October and we woke up to rain. I was disappointed thinking that our last opportunity for taking photos would be challenging. My wife and I took a short drive to Lake Minnewanka to find we were literally the only two people there. The rain had nearly stopped and we strolled among the serene and tree lined paths. Every turn offered a new lake view that, encased in clouds and low fog, provided an almost eerie feeling. It was a spectacular finish to a wonderful Canadian Rockies trip.

Shot with a Canon 1DX, 24-105mmL lens at 58mm, ISO 100, f/18.
