Interested in Adventure Racing? Want to get better? Learn all the skills necessary to get involved in the greatest sport on the earth! Rappel, cave, rock climb, mountain bike, paddle a canoe, and orienteer. First you learn then you do. All this at Camp Benson at the 6th annual High Profile Adventure Camp in Mt. Carroll, Illinois on March 23-25th. Teens, bring your parents and have a great weekend of adventure. Go to www.thethunderrolls.org/camp.html for more information. Over 600 racers have participated in the past 5 years making it the most attended adventure camp in the country.

The City of Moline has begun work on Sylvan Trailhead Park. This site is on the border of Moline and Rock Island at Sylvan Island on the #MississippiRiverTrail.

The park is expected to be finished in early May and will provide another nice stop for bike riders, walkers, runners, and Sylvan Island explorers.

March 9, 2012 at the Jumer's Casino, 777 Jumer's Dr., Rock Island, IL.
Cocktails (cash bar) and displays - 5:00 p.m.
Dinner - 6:30 p.m.
Program - 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $40 per person. A reserved table of 10 is $375.

Spend 4 days in the heart of the Colorado mountains in Summit County! Rock climb, rappel, sea kayak, mountain bike, trek and mountaineer. The final day of the camp will be a summit attempt on Quandary Peak, a 14,000' mountain located south of Breckenridge.

Introduction
Taming of the Slough is a Mississippi River adventure race in Moline, IL hosted by River Action

This event is a "sprint adventure-tri" that takes 1.5-2 hours to complete.  There are 3 race classes [Racing, Sport, & Novice] so all racers will compete with others of similar ability.

RACE COURSE
  • Kayak - 2.75 Miles
  • Mountain Bike on Sylvan Island - 8 Miles
  • Run downtown Moline, off-road hill climb - 1.75 Miles
  • See Map
Compete individually or as a team
  • Individual - Complete all legs of the race
  • 2 Person - Each teammate completes all legs of the race [team time is the average of two individual times]
  • 3 Person Relay - One teammate paddles, one bikes, and one runs for a combined time
