"Title in the North and Playoff-Finals"

The Alligators handled their goals for the season aggressively and signed another top notch player with David Selsemeyer.

The Solingen Alligators are getting serious: On sunday at the board meeting of the club the new president Peter Niemeyer introduced the ex-US-Profesional Nick Renault. Yesterday David Selsemeyer was introduced as one of three new German members. The 22-year old played for the Haar Disciples and is a ex-Juniors national team member who already has 141 appearances in the Bundesliga. Coach Norman Eberhardt, who put a lot of effort into last week's upgrading of the Bundesliga-Team, now five weeks before the start of the season is convinced of the quality of his line-up for 2013. "We want to be the champions of the North and to be in the finals for the German Championship", said the 37-year old before his second season as a head coach.

Huge financial effort to sign the pitcher:

The breaking point of the athletic ambition was signing Renault. Since the end of last year there were conversations going on with the 33-year old pitcher who had an outstanding season with the Haar Disciples in 2012. Sponsors were addressed at the New Year Reception to make it possible to sign him. "It was a financial effort for us even though other clubs offered him even more" , said the new president Peter Niemeyer. It is not a coincidence that David Selsemeyer from Haar, a suburb from Munich, is also coming to Solingen. Selsemeyer is the catcher that Renault is well attuned with. By signing him the biggest structural weakness of the Alligator line-up got eliminated. Up until now a loss of catcher Julian Steinberg couldn't have been compensated.
"We have the deepest line-up in years", Norman Eberhardt underlines. The most recent players bring a lot of Bundesliga experience with them and injuries won't throw the 2013 Alligators as much off course as in 2012." This improves the competition and gives us security for the future when our experienced players retire." says Norman Eberhardt who wants to have a definite say about the title and also wants to break a streak: 6 times the Alligators have lost in the semi finals for the German Championship.

Peter Niemeyer got about 80 votes with no vote against him at the general assembly of the Alligators. He is going to replace Lutz Träbert after 6 years as President of the Board. It is quit unusual to have national player André Hughes as a vice president but Niemeyer says he is happy to have someone by his side who knows a lot about the top level of the sport.
