The Douro valley is so much more than just vines. It's layers and layers of history, produce, people and most of all textures.

One of my favorite photos from the other day on a short trip up river to buy some Lampreia. The Bridges are one of the special parts of #Porto.

10 years on in Europe and while I have no major insights to share, I do love looking back and getting perspective on where we are today. It's been a long strange trip for sure.

Great parallels to starting in #wine . I often find the person who knows everything about the wine we are drinking is often the one with the least experience. Those with great knowledge realize they can never know it all. #Tea was an eyeopener for me. It put me back in my early wine days where fear of "getting it wrong" were still present, no matter how little it really mattered.

"The people I know to be true tea experts are not quick to find fault, not quick to point fingers and make snide remarks, not quick to speak. They experience tea with beginner’s mind and are open to the vast universe of differences that tea presents. That, and when they find their assumptions to be incorrect, they simply say interesting and carry on learning."

Gerês is easily one of my favorite places in Portugal. To call it magical is not saying enough. If you haven't been: GO!
