The Aquarium is quite over rated. Hard to spend all day there and enjoy oneself. The Stingray exhibit is lame at best. The Ticket taker seemed more interested in his lady friend then managing the crowd. The shark ride (I bought separately), was cheesy. Depending on where you sat on the train, you either had a great view or a sore neck trying to see what was in the tank. I might suggest trying to sit mid train. For $5, it was far from a value. Saw many folks wandering around playing hand phone appearing bored and disinterested. Restaurant I give 3 stars also - it was okay. Not great - not poor but just okay. Staff was pleasant (except stingray guy) No spoons provided unless requested. For the price, it was marginal - not much of a selection considering they are a "fish" place. Many of the fish had lesions or something similar. Tanks had algae growth. I understand this is a big task but it is an aquarium that specializes in managing tanks and fish. I would have thought it would be more pristine. I've been to much better aquariums (Baltimore, Georgia, and others) After $132 I felt empty. Aquarium, Shark ride and Dining - 2 hours 15 minutes - it was about 1 hour too much considering I read all the plaques and fish info.

Ive been to many aquariums and love seeing what each city has to offer. From the outside it looked like it was going to be a big aquarium. We had planned on being here for a few hours and i was excited. We got inside and was very impressed by the decor. It was a very nice layout. They even had a white tiger. But then that was it. We were done with the aquarium after about 15 minutes of slow walking. We got to the gift shop and were very confused as to what was going on, surely it wasnt over already?! We walked out of the gift shop looking for more to see and all we found was the manta ray petting area and the restaurant. After walking around looking to see if there was anything else to do, we realized that everything else required a separate pass to get on the rides. It was an extremely short tour and was expecting a lot more. It was a waste of $36 and then $7 for parking on top of that. It was not worth the trip to go see and was a waste of time. If you were interested in the restaurant then that part looked kind of cool, it was a little expensive though. I would not recommend going here if you are expecting a decent aquarium. At the Houston Zoo they have an aquarium section that is much better. Again I would NOT waste your time going here.

The aquarium itself was ok. Not huge, just a few tanks. TURN OFF FLASH WHEN TAKING PICTURES!!!!! Some people are so stupid when it comes to reading signs and following them. The surprising thing to see was the huge white tiger at the end. Would only go once. Another thing they had was the restaurant on the second floor. food was good, huge tanks in the restaurant cool plus view of downtown awesome, service and employees.....FAIL. customers taking pictures with flash on...ANNOYING.

So I have been to the Aquarium before and it was pretty decent but I had no idea that there was a restaurant attached to the place. I was lucky enough to be treated to a yummy dinner here and was blown away at how amazing this place is. A little fact about me...I am pretty sure in another life I was a mermaid so to walk into this restaurant where there is this HUGE fish tank that encompasses most of the restaurant put me right into heaven. We were seated up close so I was able to face the fish tank while enjoying my meal. The servers were very kind and were open to answering any questions you may have about the fish in the tank. They shared facts about the tank and all the fishes that were inside. I heard the facts so many times that I thought I would be able to share them in this review. I guess that means you will have to go check out the restaurant for yourself to hear those facts. My server was pretty good for the most part. She seemed to be a bit tired but she perked up once we ordered a bottle of wine. lol. I appreciate visual stimulation and eating here gave me just that. I could sit and watch those fish swim around all day long. It was very peaceful around the time we got there which was at 7:30pm. The restaurant closes at 9pm. I decided to valet since it was only $9 and attempting to find street parking would have just been a nightmare. Oh and if you have children they will absolutely love eating here. There were a few families there last night and I don't know who enjoyed the fish our the kids that were there.

Very elegant and beautiful restaurant, the decor is amazing, the food is off the hook, and the atmosphere is fabulous. A good place for families, first dates, or a business meeting. I love it.

Before last month, when I thought about the Downtown Aquarium, I thought about the ferris wheel and that how it was probably a great place for families since Astroworld is long gone (tear). All of this changed when I went there for a wedding. It was in the ballroom on the third floor and gave me a brand new perspective. The balcony had a breathtaking view of Downtown, the staff were friendly, and the aquariums were beautiful. I highly recommend it to people looking for a wedding venue or to a couple looking for a new and unique date place.
