Went ahead with my first try with microwaved popcorn kernels; try this out, it's much cheaper and leaves room to customize it for yourself....
1/4 cup of Popcorn Kernels (About $1.50 for 2 pounds at Wal Mart)
Paper Bag ($1.00 for 50 at Wal Mart)
Just a tablespoon or so of olive oil (Optional)
Put everything in the bag, shake it up, fold the top 3 or so times and stand it up in the microwave. Try to set it at 1:40 or so, or when popping slows to one a second.
Boom. Cheap, delicious popcorn that's more than likely far healthier than anything you'd buy from the stores. Here are some topping suggestions I found on a website:
Mexican: Add chili powder, hot sauce, and salt.
Kiss My Breath: Shake in onion powder and garlic powder — hold the kiss.
Cheese Please: Mix in Parmesan cheese with a little salt.
Sweet Tooth: A dash of cinnamon, a sprinkle of sugar, and a topper of honey. Now that’s money.
Classic: A shake of salt with a pat of butter.
