Insightful.
Creative people are humble and proud. Creative people tend to be both extroverted and introverted. Creative people are rebellious and conservative...

Title: The Naked Truth - Building Product Transparency

Description:
Stacia Miller, Policy and Advocacy Manager for Cascadia Green Building Council, will be here to discuss the role of product transparency in helping us achieve a future that is socially just, culturally rich and ecologically restorative. She will provide an introduction to Declare®, the ingredients program developed by partner organization the International Living Future Institute, and how it can support project teams seeking to avoid Red List materials.

Across the building industry we are seeing greater attention paid to materials in rating systems and regulations alike. Human and environmental health considerations are emerging as crucial factors in project design and implementation. As more clients and codes require us to specify healthy products in our projects, we will need to be more knowledgeable about how to work with manufacturers to achieve healthy material selection. Declare helps us to meet these new, stricter requirements while transforming the marketplace by focusing on transparency and open communication.

Come hear about how leading practitioners and manufacturers can secure their competitive advantage through material transparency!

Place: McGranhan's Architecture, 2111 Pacific AVE, Tacoma WA
Cost: none
Date/Time: Thursday, March 6th, 2014, 730am-900am

You should know that it was your post here that got me there this morning. Almost missed it. BTW - I had 2 people from CSI who told me this evening that they really enjoyed the LUG and plan to come again.

I would like to invite you to join me for a free talk sponsored by Cascadia Green Building Council, South Sound Chapter on: Topic – AMP Initiative ‘Asset Management Preservation’ – Better Process = Best Results

Description:

The AMP Initiative is a process developed to determine the most economical project – A Better Way of Doing Things. Projects built to Code trade substantial long term savings for the lowest year-zero capital costs. Projects built arguably to the highest standard (Passive House) intend to trade the substantial long terms savings for the increased year-zero capital costs. The goal of the AMP process is to determine the ‘sweet spot,’ between the lowest and highest standards, by finding the balance between long term savings and capital costs. The process augments the traditional design team – it does not replace anybody. AMP leverages the strengths of the entire team. Deliverables – better choices at the earliest opportunity, a detailed life cycle cost analysis, and a comparison of choices of materials and systems versus resource conservation (energy, water, future work) in relation to the Total Cost of Ownership. AMP applies to existing buildings, renovations and new construction.

Let’s build responsible and remarkable buildings!

Presentation will have 2 applications of the process: Renovation & New Construction

Date: February 6th, 2014 at 7:30am
Location: McGranahan Architects, 2111 Pacific Ave, Tacoma WA

Hey Brett, another good article! I believe that you have your finger on the pulse of today's AND tomorrow's way of doing business. I would have commented on the Kitsap Sun site but you have to be a subscriber to do so.
