Help Desk:Questions here!!  -

I am running a Toshiba Satellite Laptop - S855-S5378 ~ 1 yr old. I am running an Intel Core i7 with 8GB ram and windows 8.1 The machine runs excellently aside from the occasional keyboard malfunction.

Also, which may be unrelated; when BURNING an blank CD the drive makes a loud sound which is not characteristic of the machine - could this be connected?

I had spilled liquid on the keyboard some time ago which rendered the keys inoperable; so I hooked up a USB keyboard which does the job fine now.

2 days ago I ordered an replacement keyboard for the laptop. My worry is that the replacement will not render my issue. I understand this is a silly mistake and it is without saying that "this is my fault."

+Alex Gambini Trust me it will, if you have the extra $$ you could simply replace the drive as well a little bit more technical than the keyboard but if you are comfortable with replacing they keyboard the drive should be a cinch as well. If all else fails in getting the drive to function as you want.

Animation of the History of CO2 Emissions

Here is an animation from Robert Andres at NOAA's Carbon Dioxide Information Analysis Center (CDIAC) showing the map of annual carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuels and cement production over the past 250 years. It is very interesting to watch different countries emerge as substantive emitters at different times during the timeseries.

The animation is available online here:

Hello Everyone!
I am brand new to the community; and mostly a programmer but I dabble and do enjoy and enthusiastically LOVE to construct my own PC's and do things with them that normally aren't done.

I'm a recent owner of the Nexus 7; and perhaps this is a stupid question- but is there an LED on the device? I see a small round LED-looking object about 1cm to the right of the camera lens. Is this an LED?

I have been rebuilding an old PC that was going to be trashed by a nephew. It was in no sort of working shape when I got it - but now runs win XP fairly reliably. I also have this interesting blue LED screen that monitors temperature and interfaces with the fan. My question is - what do I do with these yellow connectors I have shown below? One says CPU and other say HDD. Another is a 2 prong connector for HDD LED. I am clueless how to connect these. Any input would be appreciated,

Hmm.. Did you ever get this figured out +Alex Gambini? The HDD LED connector is something I can easily point you to, provided you tell me the brand/model of both the motherboard and power supply. But with those other connectors, I'll have to look into it. Give me as much relevant info as possible about the hardware you're working with, and we'll get this figured out for you--provided you haven't found the answer already.

Hello, world.  -

After tiring research, I finally decided on the Nexus 7 - as I am an avid Android user/developer. I discovered that using some regular Play Store Apps and using Google Voice - you can easily use your Nexus 7 as a phone; provided you have internet access. But if you have a phone thats capable of broadcasting WifI or are at home/office this shouldn't be a problem.

+Tiến Nguyễn Thank you for the info. I am not sure I fully understand what you mean. But I believe you are indicating that I create a 2nd Google acct that is used strictly for the purpose of Gtalk, correct?

Hello, I have been attempting to resolve a problem with Eclipse loading the ADK for several days now. For some reason Eclipse does not load an ADK past 2.2, yet 4.2 is available from the drop down menu - yet i cannot create the AVD. I was successfully able to create a 4.2 AVD directly from the SDK manager yet it would not load inside Eclipse - a config.ini file was "wrong." Furthermore, there is no quick access to the AVD manager inside Eclipse - I am forced to go through Run Configurations then enter the Manger. ANy suggestions?
