Another shot at HDR - I like this one a lot more.  From Grounds for Sculpture, this is a copy of Monet's garden at Giverny, specifically the Japanese Bridge as part of the Waterlilies series.  It was so incredible to be able to basically stand in the middle of a famous painting recreated in a real life.

A fellow blogger contacted me about a few of the old images I’ve posted a while back.  I started following his blog and found that he was posting these Sepia Saturday posts about old photographs.  Well, I finally checked into what Sepia Saturday is, and…

From an upcoming blog post, here's a sweet postcard from "Mid" (Mildred Witherow) to my great grandma Olga in 1947.  Mid was a childhood friend of great grandma's and they kept in touch and visited throughout their lives even in spite of the distance.

The front of the postcard is a scene from Dixie Highway in Drayton Plains, Michigan.  I love old postcards and this one is really neat - the cars, the little shop on the left, and a lonely traffic light.

I tried to find the location on Google Maps, but was coming up empty since the area doesn't look anything like that anymore.  If the name of the hardware store wasn't partly obscured, I think I'd have a better chance at finding it.  There is a train car in the background which helps narrow it down, but I can't be 100% sure.

Small update!  I contacted the historical society were this was taken, and here's the location:
https://www.google.com/maps/@42.680359,-83.372253,3a,75y,108.71h,73.5t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1sxNzXlf_0E8vhurjZz_aW_Q!2e0

From the historical society, "The postcard is Keego Hardware.  This was on the north side of Dixie Highway across from where Hatchery Road comes into Dixie.  South of where Burke Lumber is now (and then) but across the street from Burke.  This building housed Keego Hardware, a grocery store and Drayton Drug's until 1959 when it was abandoned.  The traffic light in photo is Hatchery Road & Dixie traffic light."

I apparently neglected to add in the time-lapse video the first time, so here's the post again withe the video!
Before starting the section on the cruise of the Caledonian Canal, I wanted to add in a little overview of the canal and our boat.  The boat we took was the Isle of Skye, a 34 ft cruiser with one b...

Even with time lapse (which was very cool, I loved that), it seems so time consuming.  Did it take forever?

Knitter in search of circuitry wizard.  :)

We thought we saw it all knitting-wise. We were wrong.
Forget about circuit boards and start thinking about circuit stitches with this illuminating tutorial by electronic art professor Jesse Seay on how to knit your own circuitry.

This week’s Sepia Saturday is, “Reflections on Paddling in the Lake or Sea.”  Part of me thought about using some of the houseboat and barge photos from my husband’s Dutch family, but that’s on canals and doesn’t quite fit the theme.  I suppose I can save…

What do you think, seems like a good match for the Menkemaborg in Uithuizen, Groningen, The Netherlands?
https://flic.kr/p/bHg4bX is a more current picture.  Buildings look the same and all.  If I'm right, that's +Douglas Jaarsma's dad and aunt.  Check out her shoes, in case you're not sure it was taken in Holland.  ;)
Oh, and if you happen to be from somewhere around Groningen or Uithuizen, I'd love to pick your brain about a few other photos in hopes of identifying the exact location.
