If you're considering leaving your current job, here are a few considerations to determine whether your reasons are, well, reasonable. Ask yourself honestly: Why do I want to leave? http://bit.ly/1mt64P6

My entrepreneurial philosophy on "Burning The Ships" – why I quit my job without funding or a solid business plan and decided to bootstrap @SoftwareAdvice. Don't try this at home... http://bit.ly/IDqvq4

Why boring is awesome. You don't need to be Mark Zuckerberg to be a successful entrepreneur. Talking from experience, one of the most reliable ways to be prosperous is to be, well, boring... http://bit.ly/1boJdP1 #startups #entrepreneurship

Taking a look at our rapid growth over the past year and all the change that comes with that, it's very rewarding to be recognized as a 2013 Top Workplace by the Austin American-Statesman. We've still got some work to do, but for now, we'll celebrate. Oh, and we're hiring...a lot. #atxjobs http://bit.ly/1aZidmm

Here's a framework I use for managing priorities: I value my time at $1,000 an hour (even if no one would pay me that).

Real work experience isn't just measured by time. You have to consider the quality and intensity of that work. In my opinion, #experience is a function of time, quality and intensity. http://bit.ly/1koktYD

Are You a Connector—or a Party Crasher? I get a lot of well-intended introductions, but I'm not particularly excited when they are sent unexpectedly. So, I'd like to propose: The Three Tenets of a Good Introduction. http://bit.ly/1eRg1hi

This is our idea of giving back. How a 5-year-old named Confidence changed our lives by letting us be apart of her dramatic transformation #givingback http://bit.ly/187MAUu

I'm really excited about a new series we are launching today on our Million Little Wins blog: Psychological Profiles of the Dream Team. We engaged a local psychiatrist to help us profile our best employees and see what makes them great. We can then use what we've learned to hire more people like them and work more effectively with the team we've got.

Here's our first profile, The Giver.

Story
Tagline
Founder & CEO of a web marketing firm, aging athlete, struggling father, hand-ringer, devoted Bernese Mountain Dog caretaker.
Introduction
In 2005 I started Software Advice, a web marketing firm focused on the software industry, after a ten-year career in the enterprise software and investment banking industries. We never took on any outside investment, which made for a tough first three years. But since 2008 we've been profitable and growing rapidly. My proudest accomplishment is the 60 jobs we've created, primarily in our Austin, Texas headquarters, but also in Cordoba, Argentina, where our developers churn out PHP. I'm always happy to share what I've learned from bootstrapping this business, which ranges from management and strategy to the details of web marketing tactics.

Outside of work, I spend all my time with my wife Lauren, daughter Hudson, son Stone, and dog, Stinson.
