You'll walk in to find delicious pan dulce which goes great with their coffee. They serve up the familiar breakfast tacos. I like their beans but not the chorizo or salsa. The salsa has a bland tomato flavor. They are usually very busy but the staff is quick and attentive; my coffee mug is never empty! The friendly staff, cozy feel, and fresh pan dulce keep me coming back to Joe's.

One of the cheapest breakfast spots in town! I went with the breakfast tacos - the potatoes were soft and tasty but needed salt. The place gets packed quickly on weekends so be prepared for a wait. I'll definitely need to try some of the baked goods next time, but they only come in large size and I was too full from my tacos.

Joe's is the best Tex-Mex in Austin IMHO. Admittedly, I have a strong bias toward crispy beef tacos - and their's are the best. Here me out. First, I don't think you truly qualify as a Tex-Mex restaurant if you do not have crispy beef tacos on the menu. Second, when on the menu, I order crispy beef tacos almost without fail. So I've tried a lot of crispy beef tacos in town. Joe's are perfect in their simplicity. A hard, yellow, crunchy corn shell. No, they're not made in house and fried to order. They're the kind your mom bought at the grocery store. The shell is packed with perfectly spiced ground beef. Exactly what McCormick's taco seasoning wishes their's tasted like! Yes, it's greasy, but worth it. And none of this "here's a tiny bit of meat and two inches of lettuce." No. This taco is shell, beef, and cheese. Oh and the cheese is the good, "thick" grated cheddar and Joe's isn't skimping on this topping. I hear the enchiladas are deliciously greasy and cheesy, but I can't bring myself to order anything else (see above). The salsa is green and spicy. The chips are excellent. Thick and crunchy, yet airy. I often wish Joe's would share their chip knowledge with other Mexican restaurants in town. Apparently, good chips are hard to come by. Breakfast on the weekends is great too. Deep fried bacon is my guess. And you might catch the UT Fight Song blasting over the speakers. Oh and did I mention affordable?

Great food and service. This isn't one of those pseudo-Mexican restaurants, this is as authentic as you can get!

I have only had the breakfast tacos. I usually stop in and get some on the go, but one day I am going have a sit down meal. Their breakfast tacos are great. The tortillas taste freshly made and they do not skimp on the ingredients they fill them with. Their baked items must be good, because I see a lot of people are buying them while I'm waiting on my tacos.

I had been to Joe's once before and I was happy enough to return. My second visit was very unsatisfactory. We went Saturday for brunch. I had breakfast and my partner had lunch. I had migas with a side of bacon. The eggs in the migas were overcooked and and topped with a large mass of orange cheese. It wasn't very good. The beans were just okay. The best part was the tortillas. I would eat those again. The bacon was horrible. It looked like it was deep fried grease on grease. I could not taste any smokiness in the bacon. I had two bites and left it alone. It was that bad. My partner had enchiladas that were covered with the same blob of low grade orange cheese. It wasn't gooey luscious cheese it was dense fatty cheese. She didn't care for it much and left half of it. I just tasted the meat sauce that was on top. It tasted exactly like canned chili. The coffee was fine but they didn't have any dairy creamer. They had liquid non-dairy creamers in the little foil containers. I asked for some milk instead. The only choice was prepackaged milk. I said okay and they brought me a plastic bottle of milk whose sell-by date was yesterday. That worked for my coffee but they charged me $2.25 extra for the milk. I'm sure the bakery products are better but I don't recommend the food.

Best breakfast tacos in Austin. Hands down. All you have to say is "bacon, bean, egg and cheese on flour" One will do, but two if you're hungry.

Great Mexican food for the value. Some little place that can get crowded. The breakfast tacos are really good as well as the pastries. There is a lot to choose from all around. The lunch menu is great too. There are always so many people there during lunch, but parking tends to be alright for the amount of people there.
