HARDBOUND004 - http://www.psdcovers.com/hardbound004/ - HARDBOUND004 is a standing hardcover children’s book rendered from the front at 30°.  This PSD Mockup renders the supplied artwork or sketches onto the hardbound book.  The book is rendered in portrait mode, standing facing forward with a slight upward angle as if to suggest this book is the authoritative children’s story book.  This hardcover book stands 8.25 inches tall (210mm, 21cm) and 5.5 inches wide (143mm, 14.3cm) and represents a book with 200 pages.  The supplied cover design is reused to render the inside back cover of the book — leaving some space around the edge of your design will prevent the design from repeating to the back cover.

HARDBOUND002 - http://www.psdcovers.com/hardbound002/ - HARDBOUND002 is a hardback children’s book which stands upright in portrait mode and faces forward.  This PSD Mockup stands at a 30° angle with a very small upward view making the book appear impressive to the viewer.  As a children’s hardcover book, the measurements are approximately 5.5 inches wide and 8.25 inches tall.  The thickness of the book, as alluded to by the width of the spine in this mockup, simulates a bound book with roughly 200 pages.  A light crimp can be seen near the spine which travels from the top of the book down to the bottom.  The white background for this item can be toggled off or replaced with your own background photo or colour — highlights and shadows can also be toggled on or off as required.

CONTAINER004 - http://www.psdcovers.com/container004/ - CONTAINER004 is a 2.5 quart (2.4L) container typically used for food products, in this case the cannister simulates a product typically found in use by sports enthusiasts who consume protien powders.  This PSD Mockup renders your final artwork or early stage sketches onto a standing cannister with a bird’s eye view looking down at 45°.  The background, shown here in white, can be toggled off revealing the full transparency around the container for custom backgrounds.  The container itself is rendered as solid white with gradients but comes with a few colour samples for the plastic lid and plastic body.  Shadows and highlights are also fully editable after the final render allowing the designer to continue adding details beyond what this mockup provides.

CONTAINER002 - http://www.psdcovers.com/container002/ - CONTAINER002 is a plastic, 2.5 quart (2.4L), workout protein container facing directly forward.  This PSD Mockup renders the supplied artwork onto the design lable which wraps around the entire whey protein cannister typically used by sports enthusiasts as a food suppliment. The final render presents the container as a standing product which faces directly forward with light sources from the left and right side.  Visually, the product is rendered to appear as if it is at eye level with the viewer. The completed mockup is rendered to a new PSD where all the elements, layer effects and shadows remain editable by the designer.  The background may also be toggled off if transparentcy around the container is desired.

Action List Page
To view the Actions we need to switch to the Action List page which can be done by clicking on the Action List icon at the top of the panel.

Click on the Action List icon at the top of the panel
The Actions List

Caching Image Previews
When the PSDCovers panel is installed it does not contain any Actions — Actions are downloaded to your computer as you navigate through the panel viewing each Action list page.

Navigating through the paginated Action List will cache the Action preview thumbnails as will scrolling down the Action List.

The caching is fast and mostly imperceptible, however you may catch glimpses of the caching process as revealed by the loader icon which appears while the thumbnail is being retrieved.

The panel feels sluggish
For those with slower internet connections the panel may feel sluggish initially, this is only temporary. The performance will return once everything is cached locally at which point the panel will only use the locally stored resources.

Finding Content
The Panel has a few options for finding the mockups you are interested in…

By search term
By category
Finding FREE Actions

By Search Term
The Panel allows you to find your content through the use of regular words, keywords and tags which are associated with the mockup.  For instance, to search for paint cans simply requires entering the word can into the search field.

Enter the product name, keyword or tag.
Results appear as you type.
Pagination is updated to reflect results.

By Category
Mockups can also be filtered by category to narrow down search results quickly.

Select the category menu and select the desired category
Action list is instantly filtered to that category
Pagination is updated to reflect results, in this case there is not enough content to warrant pagination for this category

The category can be further refined by using the search field which will filter the category results even further.

Select the category
Enter the search term to filter down the category results

Finding FREE Actions
Designers who signed up to access the 100 Free Actions can do so simply by typing the word free into the search field.

Type free into the search field to filter for free actions

How To Identify Free Actions
We have included a visual clue that you can use to spot which mockups are FREE for any member.

Chevrons without an external circle are for premium members only.
Chevrons with a circle are FREE for all members.

View Desired Mockup Details
Once you find an Action you would like to run simply select it from the Action list to view the Action Details Page.

Hover over the desired Action and click to view the Details Page

The Action Details
The Action Details page is a condensed version of the same page on our website, using the panel means you never have to visit our site for previews, details or downloads.

Preview of the mockup the Action will render
STEP 1 and STEP 2 rendering buttons
Mockup description
Add to bookmarks and other miscellaneous details

About viewing the Action Details page
Each time you visit a mockup details page the panel will download and cache the Action, for the mockup being viewed, locally to your machine.  If any changes are made to the Action by us in the future, the panel will detect the change and copy the latest update locally to your machine.
More about how caching works can be found below under the Offline Mode section.

Running STEP 1
Whether you are new to PSDCovers mockups or are a long-time user of our Actions, running STEP 1 is required to generate the temple which STEP 2 requires to render your mockup.

Click on STEP 1 to generate a new PSD to use as a template

STEP 1 Template
Within a few seconds of running STEP 1 the following template is generated, in this particular case the template is for the GRAPHICNOVEL008 book mockup which comes with 3 specific zones…

The design of the book spine
The book cover design
Page texture

Adding Your Artwork To The Template
An important point to take note of while placing your artwork onto the template is to ensure that your artwork is placed at the top of the Layers panel ensuring that it will cover any template element below.

Your artwork, shown with a green label, is placed on layers above the template layers
Template layers, shown with a purple lable, reside below your artwork

Deleting template layers
In most cases you can simply delete the template layers, however, some of our earlier Actions need to work with mask layers generated by the template in order to render your mockup properly.  If you delete the template layers and an error occurs during STEP 2, simply revert the changes and keep the template layers.

Once your artwork is placed it would look something like this:

Why using the generated template is important…
Using the template generated by STEP 1 is integral to a successfully rendered mockup.  When STEP 2 is executed it expects artwork to be an exact pixel dimension at a precise location at an expected resolution.  Simply opening your own design with custom layout and resolution and running STEP 2 will result in failure.
However, if you place all your artwork into the provided STEP 1 template then you can save the document for re-use later.  That is, if you have previously prepared your designs in a template generated by STEP 1 then you can re-open that design and skip directly to STEP 2.

Rendering STEP 2
When the template has all the artwork required you are ready to render your mockup.

With your template document open as the active document, click STEP 2.

The Final Result
Within seconds STEP 2 will generate a new PSD file with your mockup.

The final result is fully yours to own and sell as you see fit!

Bookmarking Favorites
The PSDCovers panel supports bookmarking.  By cultivating a favorites list you can bypass the Action List and go directly to your own personal list of most often used Actions.

While on the Details Page, click on the Add to bookmarks link

Viewing Your Bookmarked Favorites
To view your bookmarked favorites, simply toggle to the Favorites Page.

Click the Favorites tab
List of bookmarked favorites

Searching within your favorites
Note that using the category menu or search field while inside your Favorites list will limit results to mockups within your bookmarks only.

Offline Mode
The PSDCovers panel has an offline mode which is helpful when no internet connection is available.  However, only Actions which have been cached locally to your computer will continue to be available to you while offline.  For example, in the image below we can see that all the thumbnails were cached when we browsed through the Action lists, but if the Action Detail page itself is not viewed then the action for that mockup is not cached locally.

Cloud with warning icon appears to indicate the action for this mockup was not cached and is therefore unavailable
Actions which are cached will continue to display the chevron at the far right of the item row.

Help And Support
At anytime you may access information about your current panel version or link to the panel installation tutorial.

Click the HaptUX Inc. corporate link at the bottom of the panel.

About Panel Modal
Clicking on the HaptUX Inc. corporate text at the center-bottom of the panel will cause the About modal to slide down from the top with helpful information.

Click Close to close the modal.
Panel release version with links to product information.
Support flyout menu.

Support Flyout Menu
At any point while using the panel you can access the Support flyout menu at the top-right corner of the panel.

Using the Support slyout menu members can ask for support, report bugs, ask general questions, log out of the panel, clear the cache (forces the panel to re-download the actions) and enable logging.  The last one is for us if — if you submmit a bug that baffles us we will contact you and ask you to turn on logging and send us the report it generates after you recreate the event that causes the bug.
Thank you for trying our Photoshop panel!

PAPERBAG002 - http://www.psdcovers.com/paperbag002/ - PAPERBAG002 is a generic paper bag from food supermarket. This PSD Mockup applies rough sketches or final artwork to be presented onto an empty shopping bag with handles made of paper. This cover action renders your shopping bag design almost instantly allowing you to generate multiple iterations and revisions for presentation a painless process. The resulting render is presented at a 30° angle, stands facing forward, and is provided in a new PSD document with multiple layers. The editable layers make it easy to reduce the highlight intensity, add new shadows or add a custom background. This full-sized paper bag has a volume equivalent to 22 litres (5.8 gallons). The paper handle texture is automatically generated, however, you can add your own texture pattern in the provided template.
While not entirely neccessary, feel free to download the paper texture we created for this paper bag Mockup Action.  The texture can be downloaded from our Google Plus account.

HARDBOUND003 - http://www.psdcovers.com/hardbound003/ - HARDBOUND003 is a forward facing hardbound children’s book.  This PSD Mockup stands at 45° with the spine pointing into the distance away from view.  The hardcover book’s pages are visible and the overall thickness of the book represents approximately 200 pages while measuring 5.5 inches wide by 8.25 tall.  The final render for this book mockup applies the cover design to both the front and back covers of the book — leaving some space around the edges of the front cover design is recommended to avoid noticable duplication on the back cover.

HARDBOUND001 - http://www.psdcovers.com/hardbound001/ - HARDBOUND001 is a hardcover children’s book.  This standing PSD Mockup faces forward at a 45° angle with a slight view looking up to denote a mighty book.  This hardcover mockup will render the supplied sketch or final artwork directly onto the children’s book which measure’s roughly 5.5in wide by 8.25in tall.  The thickness of this hardbound mockup represents a book of approximately 200 pages.  All highlights, shadows and the solid white backdrop can be modified or toggled off to suit your projects various needs.  This hardbound book does not have a sleeve jacket but does have a crimp on either side of the book marking the edge where the hardcover folds open.

For best results, always flatten the the final render before scaling your work down, flattening the book layers to a single layer will produce the best quality results when scaled to smaller sizes for use on websites or marketing presentations.

CONTAINER003 - http://www.psdcovers.com/container003/ - CONTAINER003 is a standard plastic cannister capable of holding 2.4L (2.5 quart) of product. This PSD Mockup renders a designer’s sketch or finalized artwork onto a standing, forward facing container with a view looking down on the product from a slight angle. This container, modelled after cannisters typically used to sell WHEY protein powder products, will be rendered to a new PSD with all the shape layers and effects such as highlights and shadows intact. Designer’s can freely modify the resulting layers to suit their own needs including the removable of the white background layer. The colour of the container lid as well as the whole cannister can also be manipulated to be something other than the default white.

CONTAINER001 - http://www.psdcovers.com/container001/ - CONTAINER001 is a standing plastic protein container with an internal volume of 2.4L (2.5 quarts).  This particular PSD Mockup replicates a popular canister size used to sell protein whey powder products to body builders.  By volume, this container simulates a 1kg (81oz or 1030g) product.  The final rendered mockup has a sight upward angle from the base of the canister suggesting the product is mighty, and that it is the leader in the product’s category. The generated Photoshop document sports multiple layers allowing the designer to continue to easily manipulate resources for their own particular scenario.  The cap and body of the protein canister can also have their colour changed through existing layers which are hidden by default.

PAPERBAG003 - http://www.psdcovers.com/paperbag003/ - PAPERBAG003 is a forward facing paper bag typically used in supermarkets.  This PSD applies your design concepts onto a forward facing paper bag generally found in grocery stores — the paper handles are not commonly associated with these however.  The final result, once renderd, stands facing forward at near eye level.  All the layers along with highlights, shadows and effects are placed into ta newly created PSD where you can continue to tweak the assets for your particular project’s requirements.

If desired, an accompanying paper texture created for this paper bag Mockup can be downloaded from our Google Plus account.

PAPERBAG001 - http://www.psdcovers.com/paperbag001/ - PAPERBAG001 is a standard grocery paper bag typically found at most food supermarkets.  This PSD Mockup renders your preliminary sketches or proposed artwork onto a standing 3/4 view of an empty shopping bag with handles.  The Cover Action for this 22 litre (5.8 gallon) bag makes rendering your client’s new supermarket shopping bag designs as painless as possible.  The final result is presented in a new Photoshop document complete with groups, masks and layers with all layer effects fully intact and ready for further modifications (such as removing the shadows or increasing the highlights).  A paper handle with a single texture and colour is automatically generated, however, designers can easily add a layer effect to the paper handle for the pupose of adding their own colour.
Subtle crease lines are included for this paperbag mockup which can be hidden or mutted depending on the type of bag you wish to simulate.  In the sample set of paper bags provided in this post is a Belk bag — while this paper bag mockup does not match the dimensions of any bags a client would leave the Belk store with, it does share a similar aspect ratio.  In effect, this shopping bag mockup can be used for rendering designs not specifically related to food supermarkets.
While we don’t normally post downloadable textures, in this case we decided to include the tilable paper bag texture that was created specifically for this Photoshop Mockup Action.  The texture can be downloaded from our Google Plus account.
