I'm a Nuyorican interested in the interconnections between genealogy, visual & material culture and social history.
My genealogical work is grounded in extensive archival research and oral histories. I earned my doctorate in Art History (UCLA 1998) and have articles on the history & development of American museums, art practice, race, and the history of Mundillo
, traditional Puerto Rican lace making, and genealogy.
My art practice has focused mostly on collage, painting and photography. I was one of the artists in a recent iPhone Photo show at Light Room Gallery in Berkeley.
