On Friday, November 4, 2016, join the National Beat Poetry Foundation, Inc. as we bring "Kerouac Cafe", part of the National Beat Poetry Festival 2016, to Noelke Gallery, 15 Water Street (Downtown), Torrington, CT 06790, starting at 7pm, for an enjoyable evening of poetry, music, and art. Join us again as Colin Haskins hosts "Kerouac Cafe" at The Licia & Mason Beekley Community Library, 10 Central Avenue (Route 219), New Hartford, CT 06057, on Saturday, November 5, 2016, 3:30pm-5:00pm, as we continue our tradition of bringing the finest poets, musicians, and artists to you. It is an honor to have the National Beat Poet Laureate 2016-2017, Lori Desrosiers, performing at this event. Open mic.
Come be a part, as we bring cultural programs like these honoring the Beat Generation of the past while creating a New Generation of Beats, in different communities throughout the country & world.

Readings from selected Beat Poets, music of the Beat era performed by the Sergio-Mayo Jazz Duo with New York-based vocalist Janice McCune, and original poetry performed by The Meeting House Poets: Richard Daigle, Jim Govoni, Clare Mazur, Esther McCune, Alexandrina Sergio, Martin Robbins-Pianka, Isabelle Bruder Smith, Elizabeth Thomas and Andy Weatherwax.

This is one of a series of global events comprising the
International Beat Poetry Festival, Kerouac Café

There are many factors that force young girls into prostitution. Most of these cases are the economic needs at home, the running away from household and the search for self support, drug addiction, exploitation by a pimp and rape. The consequences of abuse are: drug abuse, suicide, murder, depression, alcoholism, among others. The victims of this abuse in addition to being prostituted, are often sold and trafficked. Let's raise awareness to stop this barbarity!

Join us for the National Beat Poetry Festival at its Kerouac Cafe headquarters, The Buttonwood Tree Performing Arts & Cultural Center, 605 Main St, Middletown, CT on Saturday Sept 3, 2016, 2pm-7pm. We will be celebrating all day as we name Lori Desrosiers, National Beat Poetry Festival Laureate 2016-2017. It will be a great day filled with poetry & music from some of the finest poets & musicians in the country. Then 7pm-12am we continue our celebration at Klekolo World Coffee, 181 Court St, Middletown, CT.
