I would give 10 stars if I could! I loooove this place!!! One of my favorite restaurant!! The location is great, the service is AMAZING, and the food is really incredible! Everything taste so amazing! The food is fresh and very high quality!! They really have a lovely menu, with vegetarian options for those who do not eat meat. It's a small restaurant but perfect for special occasions or if you want a more intimate dinner. I've been there many times and it was perfect every time! I highly recommend.

I had an intimate wedding reception at Sam's. I don't even know where to begin, everything exceeded my expectations. All of our guests commented on how amazing the food was and many even said they look forward to bringing loved ones there for dinner in the future. We had a special private menu but many of these items are available on the regular menu. The appetizers were delicious, these included a cheese and apple tar teletype, lamb sausage and a spinach and cheese appetizer. Next we had salad or soup, both looked and tasted amazing. For the 3rd course we had the pumpkin ravioli, which IMO, is a must try. For our entrees, we had the butterfish and the Cornish hen, both got rave reviews from all our guests. I'd say the Cornish hen is a must try. For dessert we had a fruit tarte and the bread pudding. While both were amazing, if you must choose one, definitely go with the bread pudding. Out of this world. The decor in the private room was romantic and comfortable. Sam made bouquets for the table center pieces at a very modest cost and they were absolutely lovely. Throughout the entire process he was remarkable to work with and was active throughout the evening, filling wine glasses and bussing tables. We walked through the main dining room and it looked amazing as well. Highly recommend this restaurant, truly no course was amiss and service was superb. So thankful to Sam and his staff for a truly remarkable evening. *also, if you are looking for a location for a small private event, Sam's is an absolute value.

Amazing food all around, never a bad meal. The Sam's Trio is a must. Great place for a relaxing dinner or a date. Be sure to meet the owner Sam, he's absolutely fantastic and truly enhances the experience.

I really wanted to like Sam's because of its cute decor, great location, and the fact that Sam himself came to say hello and check on us. But honestly, it was just okay. We started with the calamari, mushroom salad, and yellowfin tartar. The tartar was just okay - my boss loves to order it so I've eaten my fair share and the flavors just didn't stand out. The calamari and mushroom salad were both really good. The calamari was not at all rubbery and very well seasoned, complimented by the couscous. The mushroom salad was surprisingly good, only because I'm not a huge mushroom fan. The lemon sauce it was cooked with was light and delicious. For the entree, I ordered the lamb shank served with fries. I just have to mention that the fries were made from kennebec potatoes which make THE best fries ever (coming from an enthusiastic fan of potatoes/fries), and I eagerly ate every last one. The lamb was just okay. Although it was cooked really well, it did have a tad of a gamey taste to it, and I didn't like the sauce it came with whatsoever. Dessert was a homemade biscotti which was an excellent balance of anise and not too sweet. Overall, I really wanted to love Sam's, but with a somewhat limited menu and a hit-and-miss food experience, I don't think I'll be back.

I can definately recommend Sam's, one of the best dining experiences I've had in the US. I was looking for a romantic place to take my wife for dinner on our honeymoon while in LA, and had come across a couple of good reviews of this place. Although the exterior doesn't look like much, the atmosphere inside the restaurant was cozy and the waiters were relaxed and friendly. The main course was superb! I can't say enough praises of their lamb dish, it was one of the best lambs I've tasted and I come from Iceland where we pride ourselves of our lamb. We had a lovely time, Sam himself can even make great mojitos! :)

A true gem. Classy and unpretentious despite the neighborhood. The artichoke salad is wonderful.
