Blast from the past
I guess 2013 isn't that far in the past, but so much has happened for me both personally and professionally that I forgot all about this blog's existence until yesterday. I'm not ready to maintain multiple blogs right now, but I didn't want anyone to think ...

Anyone have any suggestions for this? I'm working on opening Hangouts for the students so that I can screenshare with the support folks, but in the meantime...

I had what I thought was a good idea- a teacher wanted her students to collaborate on a Classroom assignment and she wanted it accessible for the Classroom, without students having to take several clicks through their drive to find the shared doc. So, the student went to the assignment, chose "add", created a doc, shared the doc with their teammates, but when the teammates try to access it, it's appearing as a ".gdoc" and not opening. see screenshots below. Even in their drives, it shows up as a .gdoc and they can't open them. Any ideas?

Anyone have any thoughts on this teacher request? "Student want to create a calendar where there are buttons in the squares and when you click the button you hear a voice recording or see a video of what they did that day." BEst tools for this before I reinvent the wheel?

you can embed links in Google calendar, so theoretically, you could embed a link (it would stay in calendar though...). Of course, Canvas does all that and more, if you haven't checked out canvas.instructure.com, its the best

Had a strange thing happen today- a teacher was in Sites (within our GAFE domain) and she went to insert an image from her Drive, but instead of her photos or folders showing up, she instead got all of the pictures that are shared with everyone in the domain. There wasn't an easy way to view her images without going into folders and then the breadcrumbs seem backwards- see screen grab. I tried this with my GAFE account and the same thing happened. Any thoughts on how this can be changed?

I have the same problem. The only way I can search for images is to have appropriate naming and search for image name in search bar. It is a little difficult to demo to younger students who don't have as many images because I have to do something they don't have to and this then becomes confusing for 7-8 year old's. An easier way to filter images would be  great.

Are there any apps that allow children to practice alphabetizing- like putting book titles or words in alpha order?

We've joined the VT Robot Rodeo!
What happens when you hand a group of 6th graders two iPads and two robots (still in their boxes) and tell them to see what they can figure out? Stay tuned to see what else we discover!

Try have the student remove the file from the assignment, then attach it again. If that doesn't work, have them go to their Drive and remove the .gDoc extension at the end of the file name.

Looking for ideas and examples of ways to use Google Classroom and/or Chromebooks in a middle-school math classroom. Trying to change a fixed mindset and move away from worksheets (but I'm not a math teacher so I'm not being very convincing). I've been getting lots of resistance- mathtype is too hard, showing work is too hard, etc.

At least that saves paper! I agree- it's hard to change perspectives where math is concerned and not being confident in math as a subject seems to be blocking my ability to get creative with solutions. I'm going to keep trying!

I'm looking for an app that allows students to solve two and three digit addition and subtraction problems it would ideally also include a number line to help students any thoughts? Can be paid, but free is ideal!

Is it possible to take a ppt Jeopardy game and transfer it to another viewing method- like Google slides or something else that would allow it to retain the interactivity of the game?

Does anyone have an easy way to add photos from an iPad to a Blogger blog post? It shouldn't be that hard, but all of the ways I've found involve several steps and are really discouraging teachers.
