The Steamboat Arabia sank near Kansas City, Missouri on September 5th, 1856 after striking a submerged tree snag.   Sinking with the Arabia was its payload of 200 tons of pre-Civil War cargo en route to 16 frontier towns.   The Arabia was discovered 132 years later buried 45 feet beneath a Kansas farm field.  This amazing discovery has been featured on the Discovery Channel, National Geographic Traveler, Smithsonian, Antiques Road Show and many other publictions.  The Arabia's treasures are now on display at the Arabia Steamboat Museum in Kansas City, MO.  The exhibit is open seven days a week and features a theater presentation of the excavation, guided tours of the collection, and a working preservation lab where the treasures are prepared for display.  Plenty of free parking is available.
