No need to purchase new geraniums each year. They can live in the garage for the winter. Even unheated garages. Give them a big trim before tucking them in for the winter. More tips at the link.

Oh, and we call geraniums aren't really geraniums. But I refuse to call them anything else.

An "easy" spaghetti squash recipe experiment. End results were awesome. Nice long strands ready for more herbs and sauces. Getting there was dangerous. Serious question: what's the best knife to use to cut the squash before cooking?

How cute! A ladybug...but those little orange gals are not so cute. Oleander aphids are probably sucking the life out of your milkweed plants.

There's not a lot you can do, except marvel at the ability of aphids to have babies without having sex. They're born pregnant. Very tricky. More lurid details at the link along with a video.

Well, THAT was a cackling good time last night. Witches Night Out at The Village at Meridian to benefit the Women's and Children's Alliance. See the costumes and all those fabulous hats at the link.

Thank you for all the generosity for the WCA.

Have you seen the giant displays for masks in the beauty section of every store? It's a THING...again. Along with another blast-from-my-past-pimple days.

Going to give the lemon version a try for a home spa weekend.

These aren't the kind that solidify on your face. They are pre-treated cloths made of paper and cotton.

My family spent the weekend playing vintage arcade games in a competition called Grinkfest, held at Grinkers Grand Palace in Eagle. People traveled from all over the country, and a few other countries, to compete.

Why would people do this? The question might be answered at the link. At least it will be fun looking at the photo gallery and the shenanigans at some of the machines.

I snapped photos of all the flowers I could find in my yard last night. Autumn flowers have deeper tones than summer blooms. The show will be short-lived. We’ve had some light-frost mornings and a deep freeze is looming later this month.

Frost and freeze chart at the link, along with a listing of plants in the photo.

I took a behind-the-scenes tour of the Idaho Youth Ranch Warehouse last week. It's a massive operation to benefit kids at risk, but it serves another purpose in diverting items from the landfill. Clothes are the top donation, and it's all appreciated even though it can't all be sold in stores.

Clothes baled like hay in this machine and sold to brokers at 15 cents a pound.

A lot of things you might think about throwing away can be recycled, which also brings money to the Youth Ranch. Old Christmas lights, telephones, computers, keyboards, wiring, cables, and shoes.

More photos and video at the link.

View of The Grove, exactly six years ago. So many trees and not very many people. A lot has changed in this Downtown Boise space, including the name. It's now called The Grove Plaza. More photos of what it used to look like at the link.

Chrysanthemums make my little T-rex girl happy. Look at her smile. Add some to your landscape. If you want them to be around for years, learn the difference between florist mums and garden mums. Those details at the link, along with a gallery of mums newly-blooming in the yard.
