We've been regulars since we moved to the area a few years ago. Generous portions, even the Senior menu is more than enough food. Very reasonable prices, including beers all less than $4, including imports. Try the specials, all well prepared & delicious! Also, check out the renovated bar - a good place to go on Friday night after work or just to get together with friends.

The food is great, the service is very poor. I think the staff needs more training on how to treat people

We take the family at least once a month. Love the genuine Clyde Jones artwork! Make sure to try the chef's specials of the day.

After moving to the Chapel Hill area, Capt. John's was our first dinner out. I love fish, and well before dinner was over, I knew the place would be a favorite. We have been back numerous times, and the experience is always the same: attentive and prompt service, large portions, expertly prepared, and reasonable prices (most large-sized items under $15). We've tried many things: The fried flounder, crab cakes (lots of crab, and no filler), and clam strips are the best I've eaten. The steamed mussels, scallops, pasta, fish and chips, shrimp (fried or otherwise) are all super. Seldom do we eat here that Capt. John doesn't circulate through the dining room to check with every table. A few have not liked Capt. John's--no place is 100% perfect (I've given my share of low ratings to places others love). The average 4-star rating tells the tale--this is a terrific place, tended to by someone who cares about the product he puts on the table. No question we will back again, and again.

First time at establishment. When I pulled into parking lot, few cars; wish i had listen to my gut feeling and went elsewhere!! One notch from terrible food.

Awesome food. The portions are big. We got a shrimp plate and a trout plate. The food was awesome but there is so much that we had to bring some home. Unfortunately, seafood does not reheat well. Still good though. We eat there every no-meat Friday.

I had high hopes for this place because I had heard good things about it from other people. It started out with hush puppies that were luke warm and very bland. Which I did not eat. Then it literally took 40 minutes for our food to come out. There were only 6 tables and other people who had sat down well after us got their food before us. I didn't mind waiting if the food was going to be good. I had a triple combo with flounder, oysters and scallops. The scallops were less than warm, the oysters were warm and the fish was hot. The fries were inedible: like they had been in oil that was not hot enough for a long time. Then sat under a heat lamp for hours. I will not go here again and I would not recommend it to anyone.
