This I like.
Sculpture By Chen Wenling.
This sculpture “What You See Might Not Be Real” is made by Chinese artist Chen Wenling. It depicts the Ponzi schemer (Bernard Madoff) as bull, devil who has sentenced to 150 yeas in prison. The bull that looks strong and is farting represents Wall Street. ‘Fart’ in china is also known as Nonsense which is mostly used when someone is lying or bluffing. Chen Wenling presented this sculpture as his view on the global financial crisis.

Humans have survived because the species adopted mini-max risk assessment, we tend to minimize the maximum loss on any decision.  Science now says if we don't mini-max our climate change decisions we are going to auger in.  I do hope the mouth-breathers finally get it.

NC gets more and more despicable from day to day under our current regime.

Warning about Amazon and Amazon  Kindle Fire HD (both sizes)

My Kindle Fire HD just failed.  It won't take a charge.  The Kindle user group support forum has over six pages addressing the same problem.  Amazon's solution is to sell you a discounted, refurbished Kindle Fire HD.  The users group reported numerous failures within weeks of the refurbished units.  My conclusion is that the HD has a defective power system.

New versions of the Kindle incorporate lessons learned and they replace known defective component vendors or designs, so a reasonable solution would have been to offer discounted purchase of a newer version of the device, but Amazon insists on replacing like with like.  Nobody in their right mind replaces junk with junk and pays to do so.

I suspect this is a peek behind the curtain at the attitude of Amazon towards its customers; let them eat cake.  Too bad, they were convenient but, thanks to the internet and Amazon's success, their are now a lot of alternatives out there.
