Not quite sure why this would be posted on line.  I can see how it might be useful privately.

11jupitercowboy8: I doubt you will see this as it has been two years, but I think the polyphonic B section comes off as bitonal. The homophonic sections are generally heard as seventh, ninth and thirteenth chords, in my opinion.

Although they sound very fine, they do not understand the aims of Charles Ives music.  He detested "prettification" of his music and wanted "strong" performances. There should be more power and edge to this Psalm setting. Certainly some of his works are intended to be more ethereal (e.g. the A and C sections of Psalm 67, much of Psalm 90), and this would be the right sound for those.  But he would have decried this performance as altered for the lilly eared.  We need the Collumbia Gregg Smith Singers version back in print (or digital download).  C'mon Sony!

I guess they felt it was a good thing to edit out the word "FUCK."

While the Keith Blainville performance is a good romanticised version of the Canon, it still is an approach that would startle the composer.  We have become accustom to lagubrious realizations that would be forien to the origianl listeners because we first heard it played by the Jean-François Paillard Chamber Orchestra, and that is how THEY played it, nineteenth century style arpeggios and all. Johann Pachelbel would likely expect something like this as a performance: http://youtu.be/JvNQLJ1_HQ0  Oh, I know I cannot win the majority over, because people like what they like.  But what is the ultimate best performance will always be up for debate.

This should be sung as if the choir were blaring trumpets.  It is an academic exercise (done out of class) expanding the harmonic intervals with each phrase.  It should be sung underlining the dissonance of the composition, not trying to tame it. It is a fine ensemble, but the director does not understand Ives.

Wonderfully done.  I think Ives would have been pleased with this pansy-less, strong, joyful performance. And this should be beyond the level of a High School choir, but they perform like pros. Congrats to their teacher/director and to these singers who I presume are mostly in college now.  Splendid!

I love that you are singing a song from "Frozen" into a Blue Yeti. Hee hee hee! (I'd love to hear you sing the original words.  You have a great sound.)

Don't waste our time with preemptive excuses.  That was just plain GREAT! Не витрачайте наш час з попереджувальних виправдань. Це було просто ЧУДОВO! ;-) [Do you have a pdf of your arrangement of "G-Spot Tornado?" У вас є PDF вашої транскрипції «G-Spot Tornado?»]
