While the Keith Blainville performance is a good romanticised version of the Canon, it still is an approach that would startle the composer. We have become accustom to lagubrious realizations that would be forien to the origianl listeners because we first heard it played by the Jean-François Paillard Chamber Orchestra, and that is how THEY played it, nineteenth century style arpeggios and all.
