The Early Christian Necropolis from the 4th century is situated right next to the Dóm square, the location of our main stage. It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage since 2000. This late Roman Paleochristian burial site was the cemetery of Sopianae, predecessor of Pécs. Have a look at the venue through this fabulous 3D tour: http://goo.gl/fXZnDi. Yes it has glass ceiling and you can check some parts of it from outside wink emoticon / A pécsi ókeresztény sírkamrák a Dóm tér szomszédságában helyezkednek el és a 4. századból maradtak fenn. 2000 óta az UNESCO Világörökség részét képezik. Tekintsétek meg ezt a varázslatos 3D túrát: http://goo.gl/fXZnDi. Az üveg tetőnek köszönhetően néhány részét az utcáról is megleshetitek! wink emoticon

The Tettye quarter is one of the most beautiful part of the city of Pécs. In the name of the European Capital of Culture in 2010 project it was fully renovated, and it can welcome all family members from little child to grandpa to a lovely day to spend there. It has a huge playground also a petanque field. It is a great place for hiking, walk the dog or have a picnic. During summer theatre acts and concerts are held here.

The poppy seed and walnut roll (bejgli in Hungarian http://goo.gl/ablJeA) is the main Hungarian Christmas pastry. It is consisted of a roll of sweet yeast bread with rich bittersweet filling of poppy seed with milk, sugar and a hint of some lemon rind or rich minced walnut with rum and raisin. There is no Christmas without these sweets!

The synagogue of Pécs is situated next to the Kossuth square and it was built in the mid 19th century in a romantic-historic style. The interior is covered with rich ornaments reffering to Eastern traditions. The nave space is divided into 3 units and 2 floors by the chancels built by the walls. The synagogue’s famous clerks inculdes Géza Ernster, who is the father of a world widely known bassist, Dezső Ernster and Márton Lóránt, the posterior main clerk of Strasbourg. / A pécsi zsinagóga, melyet a 19. század közepén építettek, a Kossuth tér mellett helyezkedik el. A romantikus-historizáló épület belsejét keleti hagyományokra hivatkozó gazdag díszítés borítja. A hajóteret a falak mentén épített karzatok három részre, egyben két emeleti szintre osztják. A pécsi zsinagóga híres huszadik századi kántorai között volt Ernster Géza, a világhírű basszista Ernster Dezső édesapja és Lóránt Márton, a későbbi strasbourg-i főkántor.

The Hungarian strudel is a type of layered pastry with a filling that is usually sweet, but sometimes it can be salty too. It became popular in the 18th century through the Habsburg Empire, as a result we can call it as an Austro-Hungarian pastry. The rétes fillings have many variations, like poppy seed with sour cherry, sweetened cottage cheese or a simple apple with cinnamon. Yummiee
