15 Romolo is a great hidden bar in North Beach which requires navigating past the strip club bouncers and down a darkish alley way to find. But once you're there its a great time. It has a speakeasy sort of feel with lots of specialty cocktails (which aren't cheap but delicious) and some pretty good food. Brunch here is actually really good. It will get crowded on a weekend and there aren't a lot a places to sit so some early and try a sazarac; they are excellent.

These are some of the best cocktails in the city. The cocktail menu is varied and delicious. The mixologists are talented and modest, and they're happy to discuss their craft with you if you show an interest. Also, the location off of Broadway is pretty convenient, if you're not afraid of steep hills. Romolo also serves food, and dare I say, it's good. Come here and get some snacks, or even come for brunch (& punch), where most items have bacon, but you'll definitely get served a waffle shot, which is delicious.

Wow I really love this bar! Its got a great prohibition atmosphere (with great random music from all eras) without the pretense that usually comes along with. This is probably due in huge deal to the crowd which tends to be more north beach than financial district. The drinks are good (lots of whiskey and bourbon), happy hour sangria pitchers are a must. the food is also really good, but some of it is kind of pricey for not much food, so you just need to try different stuff. The fries were really good, fried artichokes were good but kind of pricey, sliders were good. Just try stuff, and find out what you like, the flavors and presentation are great. They even have a photo booth built into this phone-booth looking thing inside the bar. It's pretty quiet between 5-7 on weekdays and then picks up for the night time crowd so its a good place to dodge the after work FiDi craziness.

The cocktails here are amazing and fairly priced. If you come at happy hour, you can get $7 Pimm's cup and Pican punch, both of which are amazing. The food here is quite good as well. I've had the burger and the calamari stuffed with chorizo. The burger is delicious and a bargain at $8. The chorizo calamari is great bar food and best shared with friends. HOWEVER, don't order the fries. They cost $5 and were hard and stale and when I asked the someone working there about them, was just told that that's how they are. Everything else is amazing though!

Hidden in an alley behind a strip club and near the Beat Museum, this North Beach dive bar secretly serves a killer brunch. We started off with waffle shots and cocktails which were quite good, then moved into the main fare. My biscuits and gravy were just to die for and the Melon Salad cut the savory with sweet perfectly. The staff is so friendly and attentive and the saloon feel is great. Try and get a table by the window when its a sunny day or just sip some punch at the middle rail. Love this place and can't wait to revisit.

Would be a great little place to drink and eat if you could actually get served. Bartenders are either busy serving themselves or busy taking an ice age to make drinks. The way this place is run is chaotic. Everyone in line to get served became sober doing so and became insulted when bar staff prioritised themselves and their friends for alcohol. Management here is non existent. It's pretty much as well run as a toddlers lemonade stand. Won't see me again or others by the sound of it.
