I read about #500pxPrime yesterday so I'm evaluating how I feel about it. Almost all of the responses from #photographers have been negative. I've been #sellingphotography myself for over 20 years and the most I get when I use a selling agent, either a gallery, retail outlet, etc. is about 50%. Sure if I do the selling through my own website (#Zenfolio ) or directly to a client, I get most of the money but the #marketing reach of #500px is so much greater than mine. When I sell through a gallery or retail outlet I also have to foot the cost of the printing and framing. When that is factored in my net income drops to 30-40%. So what I'm saying is, other than selling directly to the buyer yourself, 30% does not sound unreasonable compared to other venues that pro-photographers have available to them. If the photographer has a well known name/brand this is different of course. He/she can make many more sales without using a secondary agent. But most of us do not fall into this category. I'm still mulling this around. I invite further constructive conversation on this topic.

At #BattleHarbour , a small island on the coast of #Labrador , I was following this guy for about 20 minutes and was finally rewarded with his catch of a lemming. #Arcticfox range throughout the northern #tundra feeding on small mammals, birds and their eggs. It is also known for following along behind #polarbears and scavenging on what they leave behind. Remarkably adapted to the far north, it's one of the smallest mammals that can live above the #Arctic circle without burrowing in the snow pack. #wildlifephotography , #photography

#Newfoundland , Canada is a great photo destination; #whales , #icebergs , #seabirds , #wildlandscapes , distinctive communities, and heart-warming people are all here in abundance. But few travellers know of it. For example, the #AvalonPeninsula was rated as the world's no. 1 travel secret in Wanderlust Magazine.

We offer one week #phototours that take you to some of the popular and hidden jewels of the place. For more info, check out our website here: http://mintynaturephotography.ca/human-nature-adventures #photography, #photoworkshops ,
