yes I was in it...most scary unbelievable thing I have ever encountered. 6.6 magnitude with one dead and 25 injured. We were in a building that was coming apart...ground crumbling beneath us and people panicking and running everywhere. Our fear was that there was going to be a tsunami coming but thank GOD it never did. We had numerous after shocks and everyone would panic again and start running...mass hysteria. We were so lucky. we were stuck for 3 days couldn't leave but finally got a plane out of there. The airport runways were all broken up.
****************************
I was there as well with my wife on my honeymoon.
I acknowledge everything the person said in the paragraph before me.  It was the most horrific moment of our lives.  We truly thought we were dead.
We had a room on the 31st floor of the Holiday Inn.  We initially were scheduled to stay at another property and thank GOD for some reason we changed it because that property was leveled to the ground.
What makes us truly blessed is that we would sit in our room and look out over the Gulf...we just so happened to decide to go to the restaurant and have something to eat.
While we were sitting at the bar waiting to be seated,  ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE...
The earthquake hit and threw us across the room...I grabbed my wife who was trapped under a table and we ran...there was SOLID MARBLE Flooring that was coming up like bubbling water and the ceilings were cracking and coming down and the walls were separating.
There was a balcony surrounding the restaurant outside where people were eating and they were diving into the Gulf to avoid being hit by debris.
My fear was like that of the writer before me who said they worried about a Tsunami...I could not believe that people were running TOWARD the beach to escape the rubble rather than up the hill behind the property............
..I could go on and on with all that happened...AND DESCRIBE DETAIL AFTER DETAIL ABOUT THE SHEER TERROR, PANIC AND FEAR THAT WAS EVERYWHERE....
After many many LARGE after shocks and with hundreds of people sleeping in the lobby from other properties  screaming and running after each after schock, we decided at one point to TRY to go to our room to get our things.
Our room was completely destroyed and the balcony that we sat on each night to look over the gulf...was ripped away from the building....!!!!
THANK GOD FOR HAVING ANOTHER PLAN FOR US!!!!!!!
