Dialog Axiata PLC, Sri Lanka’s premier connectivity provider, has selected new media platform, Roar, insurance broker, InsureMe and integrated healthcare platform MyDoctor.lk as its first phase of investments.
The Digital Innovation Fund managed by BOV Capital, marks a definitive shift to foster startups and build further on the business capabilities of digital technology and talent within the country.
The Rs.2.3 billion Digital Innovation Fund was debuted by the Malaysian Prime Minister in December 2017, and invests in growth stage Sri Lankan digital startups, with investments ranging between Rs. 50 million and Rs. 200 million. 20 percent of the total fund has also been set aside for investments in early stage or seed startups, particularly those looking for investments less than Rs. 40 million.
The initial screening by BOV Capital considers several factors including revenues, user traction and scalability and includes a comprehensive study of the business model. Subsequently, the startups are approved by the Investment Committee of the Digital Innovation Fund, for further evaluation prior to awarding the funding.
One of the investee companies, Roar, is a South Asian new media platform that creates high quality content in five languages, namely English, Sinhala, Tamil, Hindi and Bangla and is gaining online traction for its eight different sites drawing over three million unique readers and over thirty four million video views each month. Ranked amongst the top 50 websites for
Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, the site contributes more than 500 articles per month covering current affairs, business, lifestyle, technology, arts, and culture.
Commenting on what’s next for Roar Media, Mustafa Kassim, CEO of this New Media Platform said, “Roar has grown immensely across the South Asian continent over the last 24 months, and now, with backing from Dialog Axiata and BOV Capital, we can accelerate this growth even further. MyDoctor.lk focuses on Womens' health and well-being
8th March is marked as a celebration of International Women’s Day and is considered a time to reflect the progress and success made by women all around the world. The theme of this year’s celebration #PressforProgress was aimed at increasing awareness and creating a strong call-to-action, requesting communities to press forward and progress gender parity. There is a strong call to #PressforProgress motivating and uniting friends, colleagues and whole communities to think, act and be gender inclusive.

In Commemoration of this years’ event MyDoctor.lk hosted a free-for-all health seminar at the DHPL auditorium at EDB-NDB tower, in Nawam Mawatha Colombo 02, on the 16th March, that brought to attention the importance of prevention and management of Non communicable diseases that may cause a major impact in a woman’s progress effecting her life and career as a result of poor eating and health conditions.

MyDoctor.lk a pioneering digital health care platform established in 2012 has now taken the leap in transforming the era of digital health care solutions and service delivery in Sri Lanka. Originally what started off as an email based Doctor patient communication platform, the country’s first email based medical consultation service, has now integrated in-to various levels of Digital health and wellness modules in a move toward becoming the number one Digital Health Technology and Service Delivery platform within the industry.

This event, the 04th consecutive event hosted by MyDoctor.lk with the key note speech delivered by Dr. Dammike Silva, Consultant, Obstetrician and Gynecologist presented a talk on "Common Gynecological Diseases among women, followed by Dr Iresh Jayaweera , Specialist addressing attendees on the prevention of non-communicable diseases.

An audience of over 300 female participants from Several leading Corporates in and around Nawam Mawatha participated the event. Mr. Angelo Felician, Marketing Consultant for MyDoctor.lk further stated that they are planning to organize several more Health and Wellness clinics with the aim of introducing preemptive health and wellness among the community.at various locations around the country across this year.

The MyDoctor applications patient module provides registered users a hassle free, convenient access when finding the availability and time schedules of GPs around a preferred area, search doctors by name, by name of medical centre or clinic and/or depending on the specialty of the Doctor.
