Our latest research report on teens and technology covers several subjects: 1) 23% of teens have smartphones; 2) the "median" teen sends/receives 60 texts a day and those ages 14-17 handle 100+ texts a day; 3) the rising importance of texting as a way that teens contact their friends and deal with others in their lives.
Texting volume is up while the frequency of voice calling is down. About one in four teens say they own smartphones.
