A mama moose and her youngster wandered past our deck yesterday morning while we were eating breakfast. That happened after we were woken up by the crows' warning squawks about a fox hunting for its own breakfast. For our social scene this weekend, we saw an excellent production Saturday night of Chicago put on by the Breckenridge Backstage Theatre, and last night we enjoyed Keller Williams' Grateful Grass concert put on by the Breckenridge Music Festival.

The deadliest mass shooting in American history is yet another reminder why we need uniform background checks and an assault weapons ban in this country. My heart goes out to the families of the victims and to those who were injured. There is absolutely NO reason why a private citizen should own an AR-15 assault-style rifle! A semi-automatic assault-style rifle with a high-capacity magazine is still an especially lethal military-style weapon that allows mentally unstable gun owners such as this one to kill multiple innocent victims very, very quickly. We need to outlaw the ownership of these high-capacity magazines also. Along with outlawing gun ownership for those on the terrorist watch list, we need to outlaw ownership by those with a current restraining order, those convicted of domestic abuse, and those who have been diagnosed with mental disorders prone to gun violence until they have been treated for those disorders. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-nation/wp/2016/06/12/orlando-nightclub-shooting-about-20-dead-in-domestic-terror-incident-at-gay-club/

The "Iron Grannies" are a group of five stalwart women "of a certain age" (68 and up) who are members of my Women With Altitude group in Summit County, CO. They are walking across the US during two springs this year and next. If you want to follow their progress, see: http://www.irongrannies.blogspot.com/

They've also been written up in newspaper articles in some of the cities/towns they've visited. For instance, see:
http://www.tbo.com/list/news-columns-sotto/otto-20160130/
and
http://www.seacoastecho.com/article_9621.shtml#.VuSsBBhiLHc .

These are just some of the amazing women in WWA who inspire me each week! Leave a comment on their blog to cheer their efforts along.

This is why I'm a supporter of Hillary Clinton, the most experienced candidate running for President, by far! Yes, she's made mistakes, but she's learned from those mistakes, and her truly meaningful accomplishments far, far outweigh those mistakes. She knows how to get things done in our ponderous political system, and she knows how to get things done internationally, too.

Last night Carly Fiorina dared Democrats to name it. Today 20 top Democrats accepted the challenge.

Both Neil and I took our first bike rides of the season today, all bundled up since it was in the 40s. I peddled my road bike from Farmers Corner to Breck and back (10 miles, 1 hour), thankful that the "Wicked Eddies" of wind were at my back on the uphill and avoiding the "Deadly Currents" of the Blue River. He rode his mountain bike up Boreas Pass Rd and back down the "Fatal Descent" of Moonstone Rd. My helmet hair will look like I went "To Hell in a Handbasket" when I go to my hairdresser this afternoon, but she'll get it looking nice for dinner out with friends where we'll try to avoid getting into "A Basket of Trouble." Now I'm sure my Google+ friends will accuse me of being "A Real Basket Case" for slipping my book titles into this daily report! ;-)

"She cares." This, this is why I support Hillary Clinton. He says it so much better than I could. http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2016/02/26/why-electing-hillary-in-16-is-more-important-than-electing-obama-in-08.html
A former Obama ’08 speechwriter explains how and why Secretary Clinton is a lot more compelling than you might think.

Liberals have two options when it comes to Hillary Clinton in 2016. The option they choose will shape our future for decades to come.

Bestselling mystery author with two series, the Claire Hanover gift basket designer series and the Rocky Mountain Outdoor Adventure series.
Introduction
I write the Claire Hanover gift basket designer mystery series and the Rocky Mountain Outdoor Adventures mystery series, starring Mandy Tanner, whitewater river ranger. I was an avid "river rat" in the 1980s, running whitewater rivers in the eastern US in an open-boat canoe, and I have enjoyed reacquainting myself with that subculture and its updated boating equipment while researching the series. I live in Colorado and enjoy its many outdoor activities, including skiing and whitewater rafting. To find out more, please visit my website.
