How gorgeous is this?

Breath of Life || France

I can feel in my heart that 2015 is going to be a wonderful year for travel and I honestly can’t think of another time in my life where I’ve felt so excited and optimistic about the future. We live in a beautiful world that’s just waiting to be explored and this year, I plan on seeking out new destinations that will challenge my senses and help to propel my photography in new directions. I also plan on post-processing many new images from my five year working archive, like this one from the stunning Provence region of Southern France.

Naomi and I visited this area last July and we instantly fell in love with the seemingly endless lavender fields. From a photographer’s standpoint, it’s a composition and leading line paradise where the color combinations never cease to impress. From a travelers eye, it’s almost unbelievable that this place actually exists and that it's fully accessible to anyone who wants to visit. The only guardians to these lovely rows of fragrant lavender are the millions of buzzing bees that fill the air with a soft harmonious hum.

On a side note, after being stung 4 times, this was also the trip where I confirmed that I’m not allergic to bees, thankfully. ;)

Chef Cheryl Forberg RD Author Nutritionist Advisor
Introduction

One of the nation’s leading advisors on health and nutrition, Cheryl is a James Beard award-winning chef and one of the few professional chefs in the country who is also a registered dietitian. She strongly believes you don’t have to sacrifice flavor to eat well and that eating well can change your life. She is the chef and nutritionist for NBC's "The Biggest Loser”, and has written multiple bestselling cookbooks, including "Flavor First:  Cut Calories and Boost Flavor” (Rodale)

Cheryl co-wrote the eating plan for NBC's The Biggest Loser and has been the show's chef and nutritionist for thirteen seasons. Her role with the BL contestants and her private clients is to help them transform their bodies, health and ultimately, their lives. A culinary expert and registered dietitian, she shares cooking and nutrition tips with thousands of fans on Facebook and Twitter.

After graduating from the California Culinary Academy (CCA) in San Francisco, Cheryl embarked on a European apprenticeship journey, which culminated in stints at top French restaurants from Champagne to Strasbourg. Upon return to the United States, Ms. Forberg was chosen for the opening team of Postrio, Wolfgang Puck's first venture in northern California.

A passionate interest in healthy cooking led to her exodus from restaurant kitchens and an entrée to some of the most prestigious households in America. During this period Cheryl held the coveted position of Private Chef for Lucasfilm, Ltd. in northern California. She went on to earn a degree in Nutrition and Clinical Dietetics and an RD (registered dietitian) credential from the University of California at Berkeley. As a former research dietitian at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, she had the opportunity to integrate her scientific background into recipe creation for a variety of dietary protocols. This distinctive skill set enabled her to extend her culinary expertise beyond celebrated restaurant kitchens into the creation of inspired recipes that are also healthful. She has developed a clear and concise recipe format, easily understood by novice students.

A food and nutrition journalist, Cheryl's writing and recipes have appeared in mainstream culinary and health publications, including Sunset, Health, and Prevention magazines as well as the Washington Post. She is on the advisory board for Prevention magazine.

Cheryl co-wrote the eating plan for The Biggest Loser. She has written or contributed to thirteen books, including The Biggest Loser: The Weight Loss Program, The Biggest Loser Complete Calorie Counter, The Biggest Loser 30-Day Jump Start and Positively Ageless: A 28-Day Plan for a Younger, Slimmer, Sexier You.  Her latest book is Flavor First

She is a HuffPo blogger, Saturday Evening Post columnist and she writes a weekly blog of cooking and nutrition tips at http://www.cherylforberg.com/blog/    She lives in Napa, California.

Bragging rights
In 2005, I won a James Beard award in the Healthy Cookbook category. I did not attend the ceremony because they forgot to send me an invitation. I found out I won when a friend called me from the awards ceremony In NYC to ask where I was.
