The Hartford Insurance Company through AARP
We have been dealing with "The Hartford" Insurance Company for much too long. We thought we could trust a Company we found through AARP, since we are retired and living on Social Security. We had full coverage on our old vehicle and on 4/17/15 my wife was in an accident. It was report to "The Hartford" and then the fun started. My wife was away from home (2 hours drive) and had to stay with her daughter, I was stuck at home, out in the country, with no car. She had talked to the agent a couple of times, yet there were still mistakes, like after talking with the garage doing the damage evaluation, they still had trouble finding the right garage to call back. After that was taken care of, and the garage sent them the paperwork saying our car was totaled. My wife ended up talking to 4 different people during this process. On 5/1/15 they told her that they would send us an over-night packet, to fill out the paper work and send it back. They told her at that time the amount of the claim check and that they would pay half on a rental car. So, she rented a car and came home to wait for the mail. We got the over-night packet 5 days later. It got sent back in on 5/8/15 and we waited. On Monday 5/11/15 my wife called in to see if they had gotten the returned packet and what the status was. She was told that our agent was on vacation, her supervisor was on vacation, so we would have to wait. She called back later and asked to talk to a supervisor and was given a voice message, she left the message and we have still not heard back from them. Today we received a call from the car rental company telling us that our bill was now over $600 and that the Insurance would only pay $180, and the insurance cancelled further payments on Friday, but they have not contacted us. Still nothing from "The Hartford".
