My question is, what's the next step if you don't love what you do anymore?

Oprah will show me the way. Now, if only she'd help me out with the insomnia.

One of my fondest memories of living in Houston when I was in college is going to Butera's and treating myself to their wonderful chicken salad and a side of their strawberries and cream, which wasn't a traditional cream. This was thick and tart and sweet and creamy and I'd have to stop myself from licking the bowl. Alas, Butera's has been closed for years and there's no going back for another taste. I tried to re-create the concoction once with yogurt and cream and sugar, but it was never quite right. With strawberries in season now, I set out to find a recipe, and came across this video. It sounds too simple, but I'm going to give it a whirl.

Anyone know of any good writing clubs in the San Antonio/Austin area? I have plenty of ideas but I never can seem to motivate myself to sit down and write. I need a personal literary trainer to nag me.

I'm probably late on this "hand heart" thing, but whatever. A couple of days ago on Facebook, an elementary school pal posted a picture of her hubby doing the hand heart thing under a poster of Taylor Swift. Absolutely hilarious, and I'm not being malicious (this time). I really thought it was brilliant. Nothing kills a trend like middle-aged people doing it. Or as Mrs. M said in "AbFab:" "There's nothing so unattractive as a frisky old person." So come on, old folks, let's do the hand heart thing and put it to bed, once and for all. And I thank you.

I have a modest Flickr stream, which you can see below. Almost all of the pics are concert shots, and probably more than half are of the band Chicago, but there's one concert I attended a few years ago that gets most of the hits: Pat Benatar at Sea World. I have no idea why.

I love the band Chicago and I don't care who knows it. Here are 30 pics I took over the weekend when they visited San Antonio and Austin. My only regret: I couldn't make it to the Houston show. Enjoy!

How fun Sandra, thanks for sharing! I saw Chicago once when I was a reporter in Laredo and they had a show there with Earth Wind and Fire. It is still one of my faves.

On the occasion of my sister's birthday, here's my favorite picture of the two of us. I'm looking smart in my Catholic school uniform, am I not?

My fascination with the band Chicago is somewhat known and widely ridiculed. Who can explain the mysteries of love? For years, decades even, my favorite song by the band has been "Just You and Me." Last night, that changed. It is now the beautiful "Beginnings."

One of my many guilty pleasures includes watching TV shows about the paranormal. Cheesy, I know, but I like it. Anyway, on Saturday night I watch 'Celebrity Ghost Stories' on Bio, and last night's episode was one of the best I'd seen. It starred Mindy Cohn, (Natalie!) who was scary fun, Valerie Harper (Rhoda!), who looked beautiful and Nicole Eggert (don't know her), who was OK. The episode also featured Matthew Gray-Gubler (Spencer!), who told the most touching story and was mesmerizing. Couldn't take my eyes off of him. Check it out, if you dare. Next airing not until July 30, but you might be able to catch it on TWC on Demand.

I'm addicted to Celebrity Ghost Stories. Another great show is about Paranormal Kids. 2 or 3 kids who say they can communicate with good and evil spirits and they comminicate back. Most of the kids are isolated feeling and terrified. A therapist and psychic work with them to help them with their special abilities. http://www.aetv.com/psychic-kids/ Check it out!

... and just like that and because I wasn't paying attention to what was on the playlist, I found myself liking a Justin Bieber song. Boo.

Going to get started today on the books I've had in my head all these years. I think I have three good ideas. Just need to decide which one I should go at first.

Introduction
I'm a Texas native and would-be published author. I'm trying to make the most of the life I have left and am taking every opportunity to experience new things. I am currently working on a musical that I have no expectation of ever being seen or heard by anyone. It could very well be an exercise in futilty, but you never know what opportunities the universe will bring.
