Zeitgeist is a dive bar, but unlike most dive bars you've been to or will go to if you get around this place has very little appeal. A good selection of beer and only double tall drinks are what's what though. The pricing is really geared towards beer, the first sign of a dive bar. Second sign is the 1 and only pool table is trashed and supported on boards that could totally break with more than 6 on a board. Definitely creekage. Small groups of mixed groups buddle around corners like a college bar. No bums or degenerates roaming around, no biker's posted up, HH was not to be seen. Prices on the wall were odd, order and then find out. I like the patio, the lounging gardens and that's what saved this place for me. To me "dive" is an endearing term of feeling free and doing what you want, no judgment from the other patrons, cheap drinks, but when you have clique's and unfriendly people, a thrashed location, a kitchen (dive bars may only have a stove and fryer). More pub than bar, but a low quality in any regard. Tiniest bathrooms I've been to in a while. Everyone dropping 4 stars must be on crack or know the bartenders because when you travel around the country you'll see that being your favorite local bar or where everyone knows you doesn't make it good. 2 bouncers at the door were unnecessary and brutish, actually they were no larger than me, probably trained in some deadly martial art, not scaring anyone guys, everyone's trained now a days. 3 bouncers on a dead Saturday, odd. You should know they're there, but not everywhere checking up on you. If it wasn't for the only selling doubles, decent beer prices and selection and the outdoor patio garden area this place is a 1 star. Barely managing a 3 because drinkers are my people.

A well designed beer garden with decent beer selections. This might be really nice option for SF but it is a mediocre bar at the end.

This is a bar after a Detroiters heart minus the Wings. Beer selection might not be good enough for Portlanders. The vibe is an older dive, with lots of black shirts. Older punks, biker types, goths, and jaded burners. Some yuppies, but not many hipsters from what I've seen.

Massive beer selection and great outdoor seating. It's a cool hangout and, even when crowded, doesn't feel terribly so. Protip: You can order beers through the outside window. Line there is usually shorter than trying to get a bartender's attention at the bar.

My favorite bar in the city! Very friendly staff and great service. It can get very crowded during happy hour and on the weekends. Their tots are great, as are their veggie burgers, and tacos. Their spicy pickle backs are my absolute favorite! They often give free shots, and on my birthday they gave me a balloon and hostess cupcake! On Sunday nights, they have a paper airplane contest for whoever can fly their plane the farthest. It's a great place to have a good time, with a very spunky energy.

Mission dive bar with an extensive beer selection and cheap cocktails. They also serve food and have a huge outside patio. Only drawback is its cash only. But they do have ATMs on site
