How many hours of it do you spend working at your computer?

How often is computer work broken up with other tasks?

Do you take the time for a lunch break away from your desk?

Be sure to write down your Health & Safety policy – even if it’s very short and simple.

Also, keep a record of all your risk assessments. You will also need to record all the Health & Safety measures your business or organisation takes.

A written record is important because if an incident occurs you can show the steps you’ve taken to protect your workers.

Did you know?

You are legally required to consult with your staff on Health & Safety

But don’t just think of it as a necessity or a pointless exercise. Talking to employees can really help make your workplace safer and more productive

Comfortable temperatures in the workplace...

With temperatures suddenly soaring people have asked us what is an acceptable temperature in the workplace...

The Health and Safety Executive explains..."A meaningful maximum figure cannot be given due to the high temperatures found in, for example, glass works or foundries,"

"The Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 lay down particular requirements for most aspects of the working environment. Regulation 7 deals specifically with the temperature in indoor workplaces and states that:

During working hours, the temperature in all workplaces inside buildings shall be reasonable."

"However, the application of the regulation depends on the nature of the workplace, such as a bakery, a cold store, an office, a warehouse."

Employers also have to provide "clean, fresh air", and keep temperatures at a comfortable level.
