I am not Christian or Jew or Muslim, not Hindu, Buddhist, sufi, or zen.
Not any religion or cultural system.
I am not from the East or the West
not out of the ocean or up from the ground
not natural or ethereal, not composed of elements at all.
I do not exist, am not an entity in this world or the next
did not descend from Adam or Eve or any origin story.
My place is placeless, a trace of the traceless.
Neither body or soul.
I belong to the beloved
have seen the two worlds as one and that one call to and know
first, last, outer, inner, only that breath breathing human being.

* My Valentine *

I really like this new song and I am not much of post Beatles McCartney fan. It has a definite Sting vibe to it. The video itself is lovley and simple. Natalie Portman and Johnny Depp sign the song in ASL in black and white.

Our Vital Needs

In the nutrition class I am taking stress is defined as the outcome of not having our vital needs met. The question of course is what are your vital needs? I recognize but had not identified mine and I realized how important it is to be attuned to my own and my partner's as well. Finding harmony requires knowing yourself and addressing these needs clears the clutter so that we can focus our high selves.

What are your vital needs?

The Identified List of Vital Needs
1. Personal Time - time to do your own thing, pursue a hobby, read, shop or fish.
2. Need To Give And Do For Others - family, friends or community.
3. Recognition - from work, family or community.
4. Movement - a daily need for walking, sports, or exercise.
5. Sleep - your day does not go right unless you get a certain amount of sleep.5. Sleep - your day does not go right unless you get a certain amount of sleep.
6. Approval and Acceptance - from family, friends or co-workers.
7. Order and Closure - Dislike of open-ended situations, tasks, affairs, projects or goals.
8. Time Alone - a daily time for reflection and thought while alone.
9. Territory - an area of physical space that is your own.
10. Financial Security - income and out go are always in balance and there is a surplus.
11. Being With People - High need for relationships.
12. Competition - with self, others, or in sports.
13. Learning Something New - acquiring information is stimulating and exciting.
14. Anticipation - looking forward to something such as taking trips.
15. Listening to Music - through mechanical means or by playing an instrument.
16. Having A Project - being creatively involved with ideas.
17. Touching - Physical contact with others.
18. Variety Of Experience - need for something new and different.
19. Structured Time - schedule and routine are important.
20. Unstructured Time - do not like schedules and routines.
21. One On One Attention - desire for relationships to be one on one.
22. Group Relationships - need for interaction with groups rather than one person.
23. Empathy - need for people important to you to understand what you are feeling.
24. Humor - need to laugh.
25. Spirituality - pursue beliefs through meditation of fellowship with other individuals.

House Blessing Yay! The House Blessing went really well and I think it achieved the dual purpose of making the house feel like home and welcoming the new home owners to the community. Blessing, protection, connections, that is really what it is all about. This is still one of my favorite rituals to conduct.

House Blessings & Spring Rituals

Tonight I am ring leading a House Blessing which I am prepared for and looking forward to. I know the new home owners are as well. House blessings are one of my favorite standard rituals and what better time to have one than in the spring, a time for new beginnings.

I believe that House Blessings really should be a community effort and thus I endeavor to bring in members from all faiths and walks of life and invite them to bring their energy and a personal blessing that represents them. I will utilize tools that are personal to my path and those of the home owner. My ritual goals for a House Blessing is that by the end not only do the new home owners (when they are new) feel that the house is really home but that they also feel a part of a new community.

I am following that up with a Spring Ritual which I was invited to participate in and found out last night is not planned. I can improvise and wing it and certainly I think you always have to leave room in ritual for anything to happen, but no planning always feels somehow ill mannered and disrespectful to me. As I was told that they would be happy for whatever I wanted to bring or plan...i.e. unless you do something we are going to be twiddling our thumbs, I have a realtively short time to figure out what I want to do for this and I really need to adjust my mood regarding it.

House Blessings
This week I am preparing for a House Blessing.
I would love to hear about your house blessing traditions and rituals?

I believe that in a good House Blessing both community and new home owner participation is key. After conducting many of these over the years I now conduct what I call Bring Your Own Blessing - House Blessings I encourage participants to come prepared to bless the house in their own way, in their own traditions. Each home is part of a community and the combined energy always works in beautiful harmony. I bring extra tools for use if people have need; brooms, candles, holy water, bells, etc. At the end we all share in the breaking of bread and wine/sparkling grape juice.

I think that is actually something that should be done on a regular basis in the home :)

Body - Mind - Spirit - SuperBetter

I've neglected the body part of the equation for some time, treating it more like a playground and less like a temple, so I am focusing on body right now and probably for some time to come.

In light of that I am trying out SuperBetter a game that encourages your body, mind and spirit. It isn't hugely time consuming and it is very interesting.

Getting into shape, changing your diet, slipping some exercise into your day, or overall taking the steps you need to take to live a happier, healthier life are all great ideas, but they can be diffic...

I too have allergies. I take meds all year, but switch when spring or fall gets here. It takes something a little different then it seems.

Communication With Divinity

" I do consider that the tool, or the vessel, of the imagination is the gateway for the forces that we term divine to express themselves to the individual - that these forces can, and do, mantle themselves in recognizable images to effect communication in recognizable ways." - Ly De Angeles

I am currently reading this author and found this particular statement very interesting. I do think that our ability to visualize is key to communication with the Divine but really hadn't considered imagination as a gateway, in fact I am a bit leery of it. I have witnessed too many ready to believe anything and talk themselves in to the belief of a crowd in the moment for the sake of going along with the crowd and being a part.

The rule of 3 isn't what I thought it was and probably isn't what you think it is either!

Very well written on the threefold rule, by one of my Internet buddies

Brilliant!
MO House bill would restrict vasectomies only to save lives.

When I read this headline I thought....what kind of new crazy is this?

"We women have additional government intrusion as far as regulations of our reproductive health decisions that belong between us and a physician," Newman said. "We feel men need to have the same to understand (our position)."

Stacey Newman, D-St. Louis, filed the bill, which has support from eight other women legislators in the House.

Men could not get vasectomies for birth control under a bill proposed by nine members of the Missouri House of Representatives. The women say it's in response to the national contraception debate.
