Ramblin Jack's is the sort of off beat place in downtown Olympia. It is located across the street from what used to be an old old Safeway, which is now Olympia city hall, next to a small book shop and coffee house. So it seems just a little surprising to me to find such a nice place in the midst of all that. The only reason it rates so high, is because the Service is prompt and kind, seating is almost always available, especially around the dinner rush, and their mac and cheese is pretty much the best in town. Some argue Spar's is better, but opinion is opinion. The food is good, but not the best quality, I might even say the sides were the better of the dish (especially the Mac and Cheese). However, the diverse menu, creative appetizers and good ol BBQ really help one forget the normal flavors. The only sub-par food on the menu would be the Baby Back Ribs, they were a bit dry and tough, now that might of been because they were beef. A little sauce, and they were tasty though. All and all, Ramblin Jack's food might not be worth the price, however, the service, the selection, the prompt seating, and good food is worth a try. especially if a pair of people are able to split the meal, much more manageable price wise.

Pretty good. The Jack Fries and Housemade Lemonade were delicous. Not super thrilled about the Shepards pie but still worth trying something new.

This evening I went to Ramblin Jack's for the first time and will not be going back. The reason our party of 4 was dining there this evening was for my fiance's birthday. We had to ask to be seated, our drinks arrived after our appetizers, we had a person in our party who cannot eat dairy and was told her soup would not have dairy (it did), my fiance's tri-tip was charred and cold, most of our dishes were either cold or dry, our waitress only stopped by once after we received our food so we were unable to ask for refills on our drinks and for her to exchange the soup (until we got our check). Here is the ultimate insult, when we spoke to our waitress about our complaints she explained she was busy. A manager was not told of our complaint and nothing was done to rectify the situation. At a restaurant charging over $16 a plate I would have expected an exchange on the soup and some sort of free item, i.e. a dessert perhaps? I have had better service and food at a local diner, enough said. Please think twice before scheduling a cherished event at this establishment.

Been here a number of times over 3 years. Always a nice quiet place for dinner - good service and good food. They seem to handle groups and the single diner with a book equally well! Not cheap, but large portions - so if you take half home for the next night...

Great variety! I went here on a girl's night and was very pleased. Being a vegetarian that hangs out with southern girls its hard to find somewhere we can all enjoy the food. I had a delicious portabella with perfectly cooked vegetables. My girls had fried chicken and the tri tip. We were all very pleased! Our server Luke was very attentive and professional. I will definitely return.

We used their catering service and LOVED it. The food was well prepared and packaged. All we had to do is pick it up and serve it. Lots of good food. Excellent. We will use them again.

I have come here several times with a desire to like the place but ... the food always disappoints and it is not value priced. The ribs have never come out really moist and the sauce(s) is mediocre. The hamburgers are ok but not worth the price. I could go on but bottom line, Olympia has better offerings for ribs, hamburgers and pizzas.

Southern with a pacific '2 twist. Good pizza and good ribs, sounds contradictory I kknow but it works well for them, very kid friendly.
