The Gino’s East story began in 1966 when two taxi drivers and a friend, frustrated with rush hour traffic, decided to open a pizzeria just off Michigan Ave. and Superior St. in Chicago. The Original Gino’s East became an instant legend with local Chicagoans, national celebrities and visitors from around the world.

Very overrated. Took forever to get the pizza and it wasn't even busy. They said 45 minutes , but it took much longer. The pizza is horrible, NO TASTE!. They are so cheap on meat toppings. The supreme literally had one piece of sausage in it, and they charged extra for pepperoni. Giordano's is so much better. There is no comparison. The pizza at Gino's East is so much smaller, no flavor, and very stingy on toppings. Most of the customers are tourists.

This was my first time trying Chicago deep dish pizza, and I have to say I was thoroughly impressed. Granted, I felt like an hour wait time for an 8 inch pizza was a bit excessive, but after seeing how thick this thing was, I understood completely. I coworker and I split a "Chicago Fire" pizza, and found ourselves completely stuffed, it was well worth the wait. The restaurant itself, however, left a bit to be desired. The owners opted to let people write all over the walls, columns, seats, and banisters in what looks like silver sharpie. It looks like they were going for a sort of urban-graffiti look, but it just comes across sloppy and unkempt.

Very good and authentic deep-dish pizza. This is one of the few places that I would go for deep-dish as it is one of the few that does it well. The wait staff was friendly and the atmosphere of the restaurant was very interesting.

Very disappointing. After reading reviews we decided to head to Gino's for Chicago deep dish. We waited 20 minutes to be seated, not too bad. Our server did not acknowledge us for another 20 minutes - really bad. We ordered and waited another full hour for our pizza. It was a Monday night and the restaurant was not really that crowded. The pizza was not worth any part of the wait. It was soggy and there was nothing good about the crust.

Hey I drove from St Louis to Chicago just to eat this pizza, of course I'm gonna love it. To top it off the staff there is amazing. I could write a whole essay on how well I was treated each of the 3 years I've gone there.

Everyone has their favorite Chicago deep dish spot, and this is mine. The crust is deep, buttery, and flakey. The ingredients are delicious. And the breading on the mozzarella sticks is thick and crunchy. So good!

I was staying in Chicago, so I had to right? First off, the atmosphere here is great. The crowd is upbeat and the design of the place is really cool with writing all over the walls. I tried a few of the pizzas as I was with a large group, and they were all really good. My favorite was the Chicago Fire. The deep dish is definitely not what I'm used to being from Jersey. Be aware that these things take a while to cook, so get some drinks and appetizers while you're waiting (but not too many appetizers, these pies are filling). If you're exploring some real Chicago deep dish pizza options, add Gino's to the list.
