Morning of Yom Kippur: somehow, the Internet sensed this and isn't deluging me with information, forcing me to turn off, be quiet and contemplate.

Read the books to get you started. It's pretty easy to pick up. Downside it's that they're always changing it lol... The hard part is keeping up.

Request for proposals open for the Methane Detectors Challenge!

Environmental Defense Fund and 5 leading oil and gas companies invite engineers and developers to submit technologies that could provide cost-effective, continuous detection of methane emissions, and make it easier for companies to rapidly find and fix leaks. Competing technologies will get independent, no-cost testing and may be selected for pilot purchases and field trials by participating companies. Learn more at the link below!

Hard to say on the fracking front; I think they're more concerned about leaks and the potential for a) people getting sick from the fumes and b) the potential for explosions if the gas builds up in an enclosed space (like the building that imploded a month or so ago in Harlem).

Gas leaks are also very important to plug because they're a key source of methane emissions, which is a greenhouse gas 84 times more potent in the short-term than CO2. We created a great video on this earlier this year: Methane: The other important greenhouse gas

Huge congratulations to my brother +Dan Goldman on launching his first solo graphic novel, RED LIGHT PROPERTIES, yesterday in NYC! Details/preview here: http://redlightproperties.com - in comic shops now, and in bookstores & online booksellers 2/19!
Created by Dan Goldman, RED LIGHT PROPERTIES is a series of psychedelic ghost stories following Jude and Cecilia Tobin, the husband and wife proprietors of a spirit-evacuation/real estate agency selling "previously-haunted homes" as they battle the marriage-crushing pressures of daily operations and a vicious real estate market.

Why is homemade miso soup + rice so GOOD in the morning?

(Granted, it ain't breakfast tacos, but I'm not likely to find those in DC anyway. Adding "breakfast taco cart" to the list of food businesses that would do gangbusters here.)
