PCE Principal’s Report
February 2017

Parents and Community Members,

It is hard to believe it is only February and we are already starting to plan for next year! In order for us to make the best plans possible we need your input! If you haven’t already completed this form, please do so as soon as possible. You can use this link to give us this important data.
We will use the data collected to begin to plan classes for next year. Remembering that our main focus throughout the year is to maintain small class sizes, it is important for us to have as much information as possible during the planning process.

Soon testing season will be upon grades 3 through 6. This year all students in these grades will participate in PARCC for literacy and math. 4th and 5th graders will participate in CMAS for additional information in Social Studies in Science. Below is a tentative schedule for testing.
Please do your best to schedule appointments and early dismissal around these days to ensure the smoothest testing environment for our students. If your student does have to miss any testing please let your classroom teacher know, so that we can plan make-ups.

We would like to recognize two of our outstanding staff members! Your kind words and nominations have made if possible to recognize Susan Thistleton and Eileen Culberth as our certified and classified Apple Award Nominees for the 2016-2017 School year. They will be celebrated at a ceremony in May. Thank you all for the heartfelt and sincere nominations for all of our wonderful staff members here at PCE.

Please remember that the first Tuesday of the month is PCEA meetings starting at 6:30. This is a great way to get involved in school events and have your voices heard. There are so many things going on here at PCE and our wonderful parents and community are the reason for so much of what is happening. If you would like to volunteer please contact for more information. If you would like to learn more about PCEA please check out their page on our website.

SAC -Our next School Accountability Committee Meeting will be held March 7th in the Library starting at 5:30 right before PCEA. This meeting is open to the public and all are welcome to attend.

Future Events/ Dates:

Please remember that this year we have our last two-week Spring Break. Students will not have school between March 17 through April 2. Students and staff will return on Monday, April 3rd. Next year PCE will follow the Conventional Calendar, so all Chaparral Feeder schools will be on the same schedule. You can access that calendar here.

We will once again join our Chap Family in celebrating Wish Week March 6th through 10th. Please keep an eye out for some additional information coming out from PCE Student Council.

PARCC testing Window April 3rd through the 28th.

April 20th we will hold our Annual HARDWARE HUSTLE! This event helps us to maintain our wonderful technology program and our 1 to 1 Chromebooks for grades 1st through 6th Grade and provide IPads for Kindergarten. These funds also help us to purchase such equipment as our 3-D printer, Lego Robotics, and our Google Expeditions for our students to use throughout the year.

Thank you so much for all your support!
