The fact that the hotel is mainly African-American run made me want to ignore the issues & support it. However, after my second stay I must say... The staff is verbally aggressive, you are made to feel unwelcome from the get go, the upper management acts toward the customer as if they have done you the favor of allowing you to stay at their less than ideal hotel. The slamming of the doors is continuous. The yelling and screaming in the halls at all hours is allowed by the hotel. House staff was nice enough to warn me to watch my stuff because stealing is prevalent at the hotel according to them. The staff even ignores your 'do no disturb sign' and disturbs you anyway. On both visits. When speaking to others in the elevator, other customers were also frustrated with hotel. Sonesta clearly could care less about the customer, after all they know they've already got your money.

Second stay at this Sonesta and even better than the last, after all their renovations. We did New Years and got the package with a king bed, parking, champagne, and mummers tickets. A very nice touch for a reasonable $264! I'd recommend staying here to anyone. For the price and location I don't think you can beat the room quality - large, modern, and clean.

I have to say my stay was very good and it was because of the help. Every employee was very helpful from the front desk to bell hop and concierge. We got 3 good recommendations from the concierge. We had troubles with our keys twice but the people came up to replace the keys promptly.

Stayed for 5 nights and really enjoyed it. Undergoing renovation on the 8th floor but this didn't impact guest rooms at all, only the walk to gym/pool. Bed was very comfortable, with good shower. Centrally located, close to ritterhouse square with nice bars and restaurants. Would stay here again.

I was here for three days for a conference. I thought the staff was friendly enough, however, when I got to my hotel room and experienced issues with the internet (and loud noise in the hallway/elevators next to my room), I was largely ignored. Instead I had to spend over an hour and a half the first two days with IT support to fix the problem instead of spending my time preparing for the conference. The issues were never resolved, despite being escalated to their "Senior Engineer" who never called me back despite assurances that he would. I was disappointed because I selected a hotel that would have internet and didn't even get a "how was your stay" when I checked out. I had to tell them you need to fix your reception in room 1414. I shouldn't have to offer feedback for them to improve their accommodations for future guests. On the plus side, their beds were super comfortable. Next time I stay in Philly though, I'll be enjoying a comfortable bed in another hotel.

Great staff, room is also very good, stayed at this place for the USMLE Step 2 CS test and would definitely recommend, didn't take me more than 10 minutes to get to the testing center. Had a friend staying at the Marriott and he said the room at sonesta was better and cheaper.

The hotel under went renovations and looks great, but the pub that served as their restaurant is gone and the "restaurant/bar" they have replaced it with is horrible! They don't actually cook anything. Their food is just frozen stuff reheated in a microwave oven. I would advise never to eat at the hotel.

Undergoing renovation so interiors are mostly nice/new. Reserved a club level room, charged for a club room, didn't get a club room. Guest Services didn't understand the logic of not wanting to pay for something I didn't get, so had to wait on hold 10 min for a supervisor to take care of it. Watched O's / NYY's game thru the diagonal lines of poor reception. Was told someone would come look at it, 45 min later and now in the 8th inning I called back to say never mind. Art Bar only serves small plates though there is more on room service menu - had I realized couldn't get regular meal would probably just done room service. Can't say that bar was impressive - empty seats with dirty glasses and asked bartender if those seats were available and just got an "I don't know." Somewhere in the several minutes before I was greeted at a table nearby he decided to clean off those spots. Just going to eat a small plate or two from the limited menu. Flatbread "crisps" were more like flatbread "chews." When I asked for tortilla chips or celery to go with the crab dip instead of the inedible flatbread the response was "yeah people have been complaining about that" (apparently to dead ears) and "we have BBQ chips" which I declined to go with my $15 crab dip. Ultimately despite expressing displeasure with the dish, I was still brought a bill charged with it and handed a bag of rosemary and olive oil chips. Nothing to cause me to want to come back.
