This article is encouraging- for parents to support independence in their children- despite the variable that stand against us sometimes. Read if you need courage.
The theory goes something like this: if you use legal drugs such as tobacco or alcohol, or even what some consider “soft drugs” like marijuana, you are more likely to slip down the slope to using “hard drugs” like amphetamines, cocaine and heroin, than people who never get started using soft ...

Great advice! "Spark" a child's curiosity instead of over-explaining.

Instead of being quick to TEACH your child, try sparking their natural curiosity and then sit back and watch the magic happen. This is a much better way of reaching them and helping them learn about the world around them.
Often we try to teach children rather than helping them to better understand the world around them. Try sparking their curiosity and watch the magic happen.

This happens to me all the time. With so much to say, it's important to edit.

Often, people we encounter have heard of Montessori, but don’t know very much about what it entails or how it works. When someone expresses interest in learning more, what do you say? Talking about Montessori is an excellent way to build links to your educational community and to connect with people who might be interested in discovering more. The key to successfully capturing a listener’s interest is understanding what different parties will be most engaged with. Strangers who want an overview, parents who are interested in your school, or a colleague who teaches at a conventional school, will all have different outlooks on Montessori.

Great ideas for creating peace at home.

One way to help children deal with their emotions and find peace is to introduce a peace basket into the Montessori classroom. A peace basket contains items that are meant to help children feel calm and self-soothe.

There are so many parenting blogs these days, that writing about how to be a "good" parent has become a business. Regardless, sometimes, a quick list of how to stay positive when you're looking at a three day weekend with the kids, is just what you need to make it amazing.
Do you ever feel bogged down and negative about your parenting interactions when you are feeling tired, stressed or overwhelmed? Try a new way of confronting usual parenting challenges. Try to pla...

This article is insightful, as well as the two articles linked in the first paragraph. Great for parents struggling with how to be loving through a tantrum.
The five steps you need to take to help shift into a "tantrum tolerance" mode and get through your child's rage-time.

Wonderful explanation of freedom within limits.

Here is a post with recent thoughts on Elements of freedom and discipline in the Montessori classroom. thank you!
"When the child is given freedom to move about in a world of objects, he is naturally inclined to perform the tasks necessary for his development entirely on his own." M.Montessori "Education and Peace" Elements of freedom...
