Paradise in the shape for a scruffy bagel shop. I have a thing for Everything Bagel with Scallion Creme Cheese, and their blueberry turnovers are delicious, too. Nice staff, great food. Their giant TV sets are a bit annoying, but god created man who then created ear plugs for a reason, so this does not influence the general happiness levels. Yay.

David's Bagels kicks ass. A bagel with lox and cream cheese will set you back $8.50, which is a bargain considering Bagel Boss next door charges around $11. The bagels are crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Eating one of these babies will keep me full all day, and I have a big appetite. David's Bagels also has lots of cool spreads, like lite cream cheeses in tons of flavors (chive, garlic, strawberry), and tofu 'cream cheese' for a non-dairy alternative! The line is always long around meal times, but they do a great job of keeping everyone moving. When I'm not in town, I definitely crave bagels from David's.

The ongoing argument about the best bagels in New York City may never end, but to me they are found here. David's is never too busy and they have a wide variety of bagels and bialys to choose from. They will toast them so they are hot and crispy for you as well!

Got a bacon egg and cheese the first time and they put ketchup on it without me asking. Went again today and asked for no ketchup and they STILL smothered it in ketchup. Wouldve been good if they could listen but their employees dont know the word NO

This is hands down - my FAVORITE bagel spot...and yes, I've been to Bagel Boss (a few doors over) AND Ess-a-Bagel (three blocks up 1st Ave), as well as Tompkin's Square Bagels, Lenny's, H&H and Pick-a-Bagel (don't judge me for my love for bagels!)...and STILL, David's remains my favorite. Here's why: the bagels are fresh (baked onsite), a decent size without being super dense and the flavor & quality are consistently delicious!! They also offer tofu cream cheese flavors (more than just plain), although I have yet to try them but my go-to's are Lite Chive & Lite Sundries Tomato. And if you feel like treating yourself - get the lox (for about $8)!!
