It turns out it is incredibly difficult to get a perfectly graphic bootup / shutdown experience! I never cared about it but I set out to try and do it.

I managed to hide the fsck messages after plymouth / before lightdm. Now, in the bootup, I have a blinking cursor appear for a while after the invisible grub (apparently somebody has JUST had the same problem: https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/381076/how-to-hide-grub-2-cursor-before-kernel-splashscreen-menu), and for the shutdown, the same fsck message reappears right before plymouth kicks in (I then asked about it: https://askubuntu.com/questions/938808/how-to-not-have-console-messages-on-shutdown)

Does anyone have an idea on how to crack this? Thanks in advance!
