I actually did not eat here, im from florida and the gps was taking me in wrong direction to get here. so I called and the lady seemed to impatient to deal with me. I finally found the place with not much help from her and decided to read some reviews at this point. read some bad ones and decided to go to a mexican place across the street just south a bit

The owner is a horrible woman. She will blame you for her staff making mistakes. She yells and completely escalates the situation. Most unprofessional woman I have have encountered in my life.

On Monday, 8/4/14 the food was barely passable and the experience could not be graded above a D! The tortilla chips served are usually crispy and warm, these were overdone and hard. There was no mole available and the Carlotta's chicken (dinner menu and price of $13.95) extremely mediocre. We frequently bring out of town visitors to this restaurant but this offering would have shamed us. New chef? Please tell us that your regular staff will be back soon!!

Had diner there last night after seeing this place on the Travel Channel. What a huge disappointment. After a very long wait my plate came out cold. No not cold, it was actually icy. I guess they did not leave it in the micro long enough. I thought I was getting freshly made when in fact it was frozen, "nuked" with garnish added. After mentioning this to the wait staff nothing happened, not even a visit from the on-duty manager. This may have been a great place at one time but not any longer.

The oldest Mexican restaurant in USA is like eating in a nice house with great service, tasty enchiladas and huevos rancheros

Great service. Food was as good as the service. The waitress was very knowledgeable and patient. We had a semi-large party and we were slow to order but she took it in stride. The only reason I took a start off is because they ran out of mole and I had my heart set on gluten free mole being a Celiac haven't had mole in some time.

Having just had a lunch date today I have to review it and I'm not one to write reviews. The service was terrible polite, but so very slow . Lunch soup came out after about 20 min, it took another 10 min to get the waiter to take it back. About another 20 min the soup returns and I ask about the main course, he says" its already up I was waiting for your soup"! Chicken mole was on a chicken strip and tough! My worst reastraunt experience in Tuscon since moving here.

I have never had a bad experience at El Charro. The food is amazing, drinks are reasonably priced, and the service is great. I do recommend calling for reservations if you're going at a peak time. The owners are always walking around and are happy to talk to you. This is easily my favorite place to go out to eat.
