Cheesy beats, with some decent advice. This song is one of my guilty pleasures. Don't tell anyone.

Vegan romano-avocado spicy spaghetti

Just whipped this up. It wasn't pretty, but it was vegan, tasty, filling, pretty good for you, and had just the right amount of heat. Really easy and only takes as long as your spaghetti takes to cook. It's so creamy an omni would swear there was dairy in it.

Serves 2/3

2 Avocados, peeled and pitted.
1 chopped red romano pepper
Juice of one lemon.
Half tsp salt.
1 tsp red chilli flakes
2-3 cloves of garlic (more or less to taste)
2 tbsp olive oil
Enough spaghetti for 2

To garnish - fresh basil, a little lemon zest, and cracked black pepper

1) Get your spaghetti on the boil.
2) Blend the avocado, romano pepper, olive oil, salt, garlic and chilli flakes in a food processor until reasonably smooth.
3) Once the spaghetti is cooked, drain it and put it in a large mixing bowl
4) Toss the blended ingredients into your pasta.
5) Garnish with pepper, lemon zest and fresh basil.
6) Devour, spill a little down your jumper, and quietly hope no-one noticed.

Would have taken a picture, but the battery ran out on the camera. You'll have to take my word for it that it was a lot tastier than it looked. Can imagine some crunchy garlic pita chips would be a nice accompaniment, and that adding some other veg in there too (shredded carrot, peas etc) would bulk up the nutritional content and make the dish stretch out a bit further.

A pretty amazing inter-species friendship. One man and his croc.
Rather than trying to tame wild stallions, fearless Costa Rican fisherman Chito prefers a playful wrestle in the water with his best pal Pocho - a deadly 17ft crocodile. The 52-year-old daredevil draw...

Seems Pocho passed away last year :(

Pearl Jam's cover of Dylan's Masters of War. Perhaps even more relevant today than it's ever been.

"Masters Of War"

Come you masters of war
You that build all the guns
You that build the death planes
You that build all the bombs
You that hide behind walls
You that hide behind desks
I just want you to know
I can see through your masks.

You that never done nothin'
But build to destroy
You play with my world
Like it's your little toy
You put a gun in my hand
And you hide from my eyes
And you turn and run farther
When the fast bullets fly.

Like Judas of old
You lie and deceive
A world war can be won
You want me to believe
But I see through your eyes
And I see through your brain
Like I see through the water
That runs down my drain.

You fasten all the triggers
For the others to fire
Then you set back and watch
When the death count gets higher
You hide in your mansion'
As young people's blood
Flows out of their bodies
And is buried in the mud.

You've thrown the worst fear
That can ever be hurled
Fear to bring children
Into the world
For threatening my baby
Unborn and unnamed
You ain't worth the blood
That runs in your veins.

How much do I know
To talk out of turn
You might say that I'm young
You might say I'm unlearned
But there's one thing I know
Though I'm younger than you
That even Jesus would never
Forgive what you do.

Let me ask you one question
Is your money that good
Will it buy you forgiveness
Do you think that it could
I think you will find
When your death takes its toll
All the money you made
Will never buy back your soul.

And I hope that you die
And your death'll come soon
I will follow your casket
In the pale afternoon
And I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand over your grave
'Til I'm sure that you're dead.

Whatever you may think about OK Go, their music videos are always interesting, and this is no exception. This must have taken forever to set up and time correctly. Seriously impressive.

From the video decription:

"The new music video from OK Go, made in partnership with Chevrolet. OK Go set up over 1000 instruments over two miles of desert outside Los Angeles. A Chevy Sonic was outfitted with retractable pneumatic arms designed to play the instruments, and the band recorded this version of Needing/Getting, singing as they played the instrument array with the car. The video took 4 months of preparation and 4 days of shooting and recording. There are no ringers or stand-ins; Damian took stunt driving lessons. Each piano had the lowest octaves tuned to the same note so that they'd play the right note no matter where they were struck. For more information and behind-the-scenes footage, see and Many thanks to Chevy for believing in and supporting such an insane and ambitious project, and to Gretsch for providing the guitars.

Whenever I need a reminder of human gullibility and naivety, I look here.

Granted, it's not often that I need reminding, unfortunately.

Getting bored of Sloth as my profile picture. So here's a picture of Anne Chevalier from F.W Murnau's "Tabu : A Tale of the South Seas". One of my favourite Murnau films, and one of his most criminally overlooked. Ms Chevalier was one of the most naturally beautiful people to ever grace the screen during the silent era.

Here's a trailer for the film

Vegan Carrot & Lentil soup for lunch. Veganized using coconut milk. Delicious.
A delicious, spicy soup, packed full of iron and low fat to boot. It's ready in under half an hour

Bit disappointed that Pearl Jam's cover of Masters of War didn't make it, but still looks like an awesome album, and your money goes to a fantastic cause. QOTSA's Outlaw Blues sounds brilliant.
