A new Christmas song, with all proceeds going to The Haven For Children, an amazing organization providing a home-like environment for children who desperately need it.

The iPad Google+ login experience could, perhaps, be made just a bit more elegant .

So Instagram took one step towards clarifying / altering the new terms. Some key points (from my p.o.v.):

"To be clear: it is not our intention to sell your photos. We are working on updated language in the terms to make sure this is clear."

(good news there, although that was pretty clear before)

"... we envision a future where both users and brands alike may promote their photos & accounts to increase engagement"

(like Sponsored posts on Facebook? Awesome. Look forward to those on Instagram)

"The language we proposed also raised question about whether your photos can be part of an advertisement. We do not have plans for anything like this and because of that we’re going to remove the language that raised the question"

(I'll be a bit paranoid and point out what this doesn't say: it doesn't say "we'll never do that." It says "we do not have plans... and... we're going to remove the language". Grain of salt, plate of shrimp, begin the beguine.)

"Instagram users own their content and Instagram does not claim any ownership rights over your photos. ... we respect that your photos are your photos. Period."

(+10 for clear, real-human language on this one.)

"Nothing has changed about the control you have over who can see your photos. If you set your photos to private, Instagram only shares your photos with the people you’ve approved to follow you."

(and also there)

Published a mini op-ed in +The New York Times today on apps that secretly gather and collect personal information. I hope I made +Jeff Jarvis proud!

My goal: make our landing page nicer. Of course I managed to make "record some guitar" part of my workday.

+Gina Trapani is objectively awesome. That's science. You can't argue with science.
Musicians, performers, and the people who like to go see them: check out this open mike site by one of +Todo.txt's developers, +Paul Roub, and get out to see some live music.

Paul also happens to have a bunch of his own pay-what-you-like music at http://music.paulroub.com/.

My new digital "single".  There's a... let's call it a B-side... coming, but that's not mixed yet. No need to wait for that, though, here in the future.

Anyway.

The first full-band thing I've done in roughly forever, although the band doesn't show up until the chorus.  I'm really proud of this one.

Just uploaded IE View 1.5 to addons.mozilla.org, fixing an irritating bug while bringing its behavior up-to-date with modern add-on standards. Awaiting approval; the sandboxed version is linked below (I think it's publicly accessible).

Wondering how close IE View is to being the oldest active add-on there. It's #35 of thousands, must be closing in.

Your weekend hacks will outlive you.
